I actually like Matter's design very much. I have made it very clear that the claim of local-only means nothing. The real problem is information leak, which they won't talk about. Secondly, preventing information leaks is very difficult. You can compile your own thread router and devices, but it means nothing for regular users. Your experience doesn't even apply to Home Assistant.

The point is to turn a $1 MCU into a platform like Android that can run arbitrary applications chosen by end-users.
End users should be able to select automation algorithms to run on devices, as apps.
As for advanced data structures, why should end users abstract them? You keep confusing developer and user roles. That's insane! Every time you just think for yourself. You don't represent users at all. Have some humanity!

Developers develop Apps and share Apps with billions of users.

I think local-only means virtually nothing if every device can go out to the cloud. "Local-only" becomes a false pretence. Will it block Nest from connecting to the cloud? It certainly won't. So it just hooks up to whatever device on the network, whether they are local-only or not.

Not all vendors use CSA for OTA updates. Many just don't. They force users to install their Apps on smartphones to perform updates.
My point is: Home Assistant can't enforce any policy. And those claims do not really belong to them.

Matter is so far the best design. My point is that the benefits Home Assistant claimed are all pretty much void, given that they basically changed nothing.
