I have no issues with some security guard watching me behind a computer screen... I would have an issue if the guard was talking over the PA system about how he was watching me and listening to my conversation on the phone and then proceeded to upload my reaction to youtube.... and I bet when I made a stink about it he would lose his job. One of these days he'd going to get assaulted in front of a surveillance camera and I bet he won't be against having the footage used to prove his assailants guilt.

The problem is the cheap 3D post-production jobs that have been done to drive out more 3D movies. Avatar was built around the idea of creating it with 3D in mind.... and James Cameron had a ton of money to throw into the process. Other movies that have tried to add 3D haven't been able to put forth that much effort and money so they've all been flopped attempts. Personally, I think 3D is something that's only going to work well with certain studios for certain movies. I expect the Hobbit will look absolutely stunning in 3D considering Peter Jackson has created 3D camera to allow him to see the end result of the 3D effect on his scenes in real-time.

Google Music Downloads To Go Ahead Without Sony Or Warner 220

An anonymous reader writes "Google has sent out press invitations to an event on Wednesday where it's expected they'll unveil their long-rumored Google Music download service. CNET reports that while Google already has an agreement in place with Universal, talks with Sony and Warner Music Group are still in progress, and won't be finished by the time Google Music launches. 'The negotiations between Google and the labels by and large have not gone well for either side. The labels are eager for a serious iTunes competitor to emerge and believe Google has the technological know-how, money, and Internet presence to give iTunes a run for its money. ... Yet, the company is once again launching a major part of its music service without acquiring licenses and this may serve to widen the rift between the company and some of the labels. '"

Ask Slashdot: Best Way To Leave My Router Open? 520

generalhavok writes "I read the story on Slashdot earlier about the EFF encouraging people to leave their WiFi open to share the internet. I would like to do this! I don't mind sharing my connection and letting my neighbors check their email or browse the web. However, when I used to leave it open, I quickly found my limited bandwidth dissappearing, as my neighbors started using it heavily by streaming videos, downloading large files, and torrenting. What is an easy way I can share my internet, while enforcing some limits so there is enough bandwidth left for me? What about separating the neighbors from my internal home network? Can this be done with consumer-grade routers? If the average consumer wants to share, what's the easiest and safest way to do it?"

iPhone and Location: Don't Panic 362

stonemirror writes "There's a lot of blind panic out there over the discovery of a database file on the iPhone which contains dated location information. Without actually looking at the data, a lot of folks have proclaimed that the 'iPhone is tracking your every move.' I actually did take a look at the data, and it's not doing anything like that."
