During the Summer months I go through the highway roadside near my home and am disturbed by the number of these devices thrown out windows. Less for environmental effects than their explosive properties when struck by a lawn mower blade. No one should be injured by these devices.

Study: More Than Half of Psychological Results Can't Be Reproduced 257

Those of us from a hard science background always had our doubts about this sort of stuff — it's interesting to see it demonstrated — or rather, as the man says: 'Psychology has nothing to be proud of when it comes to replication,' Charles Gallistel, president of the Association for Psychological Science. Back in June a crowd-sourced effort to replicate 100 psychology studies had a 39% success rate.

Comment The point of a search algorithm: Relevant results? (Score 1) 408

I was always under the impression that the point of a using Google, or Yahoo, or Bing was to bring you results relevant to what you're searching for. Are we really wanting search providers to insert non-relevant information into our search results? I personally think that would significantly reduce the utility of their services.
