Submission + - Debugging CSS, AJAX and DOM with Firebug

prostoalex writes: "Joe Hewitt of Parakey in the latest Dr. Dobb's Journal provides a detailed overview of Firebug extension for Firefox: "Firebug breaks the page down into a set of tabs that depict its most important aspects — HTML, CSS, JavaScript, the DOM, network activity, and a console for errors and log messages. No tab is an island; Firebug lets you browse code just as you browse the Web by presenting objects as hyperlinks that can take you from one view to another.""

Ars Technica Reviews Controller Keyboard 150

phaedo00 writes "Ars Technica has reviewed the AlphaGrip AG-5 handheld keyboard and mouse. From the article: 'After lots of research and five revisions, the perfectionists at AlphaGrip finally decided that they had a product worthy of marketing, and they released the long awaited AG-5. Although the AG-5 looks strange and intimidating, it is a unique and highly innovative product that deserves consideration, particularly by mobile computing enthusiasts. The AG-5 interfaces with computers via a single removable USB cable. It uses a simple chord-like keyboarding model and an integrated trackball to provide complete keyboard and mouse functionality in a unique form factor that looks a bit like a console gaming controller.'"

Comment am i giving my key away? (Score 1) 408

The problem that comes to mind is if this is based on a set of vibrations any microphone that is sufficiently sensitive can probably get the exact combination of my key. If this becomes at all common then it would be trivial for any "locksmith" to make a new key based on these vibrations.

Journal Journal: To mod or not to mod

To mod or not to mod, that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler to post and suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous moderators
Or to take arms against a sea of senseless comments
And by my modding end them?

(c)2004 drew hearle :)

For the past couple of months, I've only not had moderator points for a day or less before I get 5 mod points again. So should I mod or not?

Comment Instant-on isn't anything new (Score 4, Informative) 189

"Instant-on" PCs aren't new. Take a look at the Soyo SY-P4VAL version M (I think this was on Slashdot before but I don't have a link). The built-in BIOS "media center" software lets you play MP3 CDs, audio CDs, VCDs, DVDs, and watch TV. It's only ~$130, as opposed to $2500 - $2600.
Granted, this article is about a laptop with instant-on capabilities, which is of course cooler and more expensive.

Journal Journal: Moderator points - again...

Well, I've got moderator points again - they expire on Tuesday, June 8. What to mod, what to mod... I probably got to moderate because my karma went up to Excellent thanks to this post (with a Karma Bonus modifier) and this post. It's a good thing my journal isn't moderated; it'd be something like -1 Get A Life...

Journal Journal: Moderator points

"You have 5 Moderator Points! Use 'em or lose 'em!"
Woohoo! And now, the quest to find five deserving posts to moderate up (and/or some really dumb posts to mod down).

Journal Journal: Still waiting...

Well, today marks exactly one month since I've submitted my "Inventorying Misc. Computer Junk" article to Askslashdot. It's still "Pending".

Maybe someday in the distant future, my submission will be "Accepted" and displayed on Slashdot for the world to see...
