AI is just the excuse du jour for being an asshole and caring more about money than people.

Which is why you comment on things you do not understand. Got it.
Which iPad has that?
That will make it rather difficult to charge your iPad.
So yes, you are susceptible to influence. You did say in your OP that people are influenced by China's opinions so thank you for being consistent.
Now we can move onto characterizing the opinions themselves. You framed the issue as being about whether they are valid or relevant but TFA is about a government influence campaign whose intent is to shape US opinion in a way that benefits China by hobbling US AI infrastructure. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but surely you would agree that this is a self-serving opinion that could be considered harmful to US interests.
Do you think it's reasonable for people to be influenced by ideas that are counter to their own interests?
Do you believe you’re not affected by them?
Which is why there’s no such thing as advertising, influencers and scams right?
You're right. Fuckerberg is a loser who was in the right place at the right time and was willing to bend over for advertisers. The rest is just trying to buy success.
I'm not so sure. All AI and robots will do for billionaires is make labour cheaper. But they already have basically unlimited money so I don't feel that is the root motivation.
I think when you get to that level you either think of yourself as better than everyone, or secretly don't and try to compensate. They want to be the one who brought phones or the metaverse or AI or robots to the world because of course (in their mind) only a great person could do that. And of course control, being able to change the world.
They want to go down in history as being important so they do big important things. It's all just ego stroking and dick swinging really.
+5 Insightful
Everyone's gobsmacked when they first try VR and many swept away with ideas about a future where everyone's there. But fuckerberg had the losing combo of self loathing for missing the mobile boat, a Ceasar complex and gobs of ill-gotten wealth so of course he believed himself the visionary who would bring it to the world.
lol no
Well you know you just can't get good gold paint these days.
I care! It's fine for people to have opinions but there's a difference between that and being manipulated by governments and corporations for self-serving reasons.
Those opinions may be real but they can also be harmful and counter to our best interests. People should be selective about the opinions they are exposed to and speak out against those with harmful intent.
Agree. I use Vivaldi on my work machine but stopped updating just before the move to v3. I won't use a browser without uBlock.
A paywall isn't enshitification. Verge is a good site worth supporting; pick up a (cheap) sub and you won't have those issues.
Terrible person buying influence for terrible reasons.
