First I'll stop using Apple apps and services, and if i'm still exposed to ads then I'll stop using their hardware.

I pay a premium for Apple products because they claim to put the user as a centre of everything they do. This is not doing that.

Ads suck, no one wants them, and the only reason for them to be there is to make money for the company. Get them out of my UX. If you make it hard to block them that is anti-competitive behavior on top of being user hostile.

From the moment the first tool was crafted it was inevitable that technology would appropriate all human labour.

The question is what do we want the world to look like when that time comes and how do we minimize harm to people during the transition. This is the true fight with the tech oligarchy - not trying to prevent the inevitable but fighting to ensure the future is equitable.

Unfortunately it's a fight against selfishness, the core human flaw. Not having to work to survive could be the next human evolution, something biology has not accomplished to date. But it can only bring a utopia if available to all.

I, Steve Wozniak, did not participate in the theft of the BASIC. It was funny to me to see others enjoying doing this. I had never used BASIC myself, at that time, only the more-scientific languages like Fortran, Algol, and PL-1, and several assembly languages. I sniffed the air and sensed that you needed BASIC to sell computers into homes, because of the book 101 Games in BASIC. I loved games and saw games as the key. It was the [MS] BASIC that inspired me to write a BASIC interpreter for my 6502 processor, in order to have a more useful computer.

I just priced out a Studio and bumping the RAM up by 112GB added CAD$2k. Yikes!

It might. Some people think the future of the web is agents browsing for you. If you could ask your agent to scrape FB for posts you care about and present them in a format you prescribe then FB's ads would be useless. I wonder if this move is partly to mitigate that.
