Why wait? I moved my entire family, including parents, aunts, uncles, etc. to Linux Mint and they didn't miss a beat. If fact, they prefer Linux. People yell about games but Steam has made a lot of Windows only games run fine on Linux. If you can, build a new machine with Linux only, no dual boot garbage, and force yourself to lean the OS. I bought Linux for Beginners: An Introduction to the Linux Operating System and Command Line[Kindle Edition] for $3 and over a weekend was proficient with the OS. Go for it!

My aunt is a senior citizen and this weekend I'm bringing her a desktop loaded with Linux Mint. She's still on Windows 7 and dreads moving to 10 or 11 so she decided to try Linux. Keep it up Microsoft, your driving even the non techs away.

Who's asking for this crap? I just want it to 1) play music I choose 2) on playlists I define. I don't want anything else. Is there a service that does that?

Seriously, Libre Office is my daily driver. It does everything you could possibly want. I can see Excel and maybe Word for business but even then only for special use cases but that's it. Office is a waste of money since 1997 ish.

Love Facebook as an idea, would pay $3 a month if they stopped all the bullshit tracking and and personal information harvesting. Until then, not using the platform.

I really like VR but I have no plans to engage in a world like that. The Metaverse to me is the same as 3D movies. Neat but not something I'll drastically change my life for.

I would classify v10 as sucked too, due to forced use of IE and Cortana. So much so that I no longer run any flavor of the OS at home.

FB is less relevant for the young and not so young alike. I regularly go for weeks to a month before logging in and seeing what my far away friends are doing. Each time the experience is worse with more ads, "features" that prompt you to re-post past postings and an overall general negativity. The company will have to change names again to MySpace2 or AOL.

I mean, that's only fair, right? I shouldn't be forced to use either steaming pile that they require now?
