Journal FroMan's Journal: + Friends: Iamthefallen, neocon, TurdTapper 5

As the title says, I've added these three folks to my friends list. While I do not presume to tell my fans who to set as friends, I do recommend reading some of their comments every now and see for yourself.

Iamthefallen: I find his journals to be rather well done for reads. His style is similar in many ways to mine I think, and as such makes the reading rather easy for me. Specifically his most recent "Mercy?" and another relatively recently, "[Death penalty] Guilt and innocence rant" have caught my eye.

neocon: This fellow had taken nearly a year hiatus and only recently returned last month. There are two interesting points of him, first being his very direct and some would argue inflamatory way about him, almost a bit trollish, however another part is that he is often willing to humor those he goes against and actually fetch the information to back his points. And with a name like neocon, how can you not like him.

TurdTapper: I am sure there is a great story behind his name. I am not sure I'd like to hear it though. Interestingly he is also in Michigan (probably about an hour away). He seems to be interested in woodworking, which would make it a bonus to keep him linked incase he find a better source for wood or tools and journals about it. He is also a pretty stand up guy as far as his writing says, as an example check out my previous journal entry and his reply to RailGunner.

All links have been tested, but they never seem to work the first time around. Sorry if they do not for whatever reason.

  • Thank you for the kind words!

I am a bit direct, I freely admit, but I do try to keep my directness on topic to the discussion at hand. :-)

  • I think you're leaving off the "http[s]://slashdot.org/" at the beginning of your links, but you're taking out the leading / that would make the link an absolute link. <a href="foo.pl?blahblah"> ends up becoming a link to https://slashdot.org/~FroMan/journal/foo.pl?blahb l ah, which isn't what you want. If you use <a href="/foo.pl?blahblah"> instead, the link ebds up going to https://slashdot.org/foo.pl?blahblah. The latter is the behavior that you want.
    • Ah, thanks for the explaination...

Anyway, I've changed all the links to /foo?var=val now instead of foo?var=val. I'll try to keep that in mind. For some reason they still show correctly for me when I do this though, even if for others they come out mangled.
  • I dunno if I have a purpose with my journal really. While I write a bit too much about politics, I don't want to just be whining about current events.
I'm not really trying to impress anyone on Slashdot, so I try to keep my writing simple as to not get lost in my own eloquence (Some journalers are too be honest, just way too damn verbose for their own good. Their point gets lost in the language).
  • Well, the name was a joke a long time ago, at the time I just didn't realize that I'd end up using my slashdot account all that much...

I'm not exactly the most proficient writer on slashdot. I don't really use the JE system at all. I thank you for adding me as a friend. It's nice to know that some of the people on slashdot are worth associating with.

It's been a pleasure to keep up on the different JE's that you and some of the others do, it's a refreshing break from the normal grind here at work.
