Journal FortKnox's Journal: White Smoke! ... Time for the inquisition.... [Updated] 47
Wow, already a new pope is elected. I haven't said much about the whole papal thang. John Paul II was a fantastic pope (even loved in the Middle East if ya believe it). Not only did he have an open mind, but he was very liberal for such a conservative spot.
Now, lets all pray that Ratzinger wasn't elected the new pope. Cause if he is, its inquisition, 21st century style (the dude is ultra old skool and is ultra strict)...
Update: Fucknugget.... Ratzinger is the new pope. If I wasn't so pissed off, I'd start singing "The Inquisition" song by Mel Brooks...

Valid points. The church hierarchy is dominated by people of western culture, specifically Europeans, though, and I would expect better of them. Whether it matters to the majority of the membership of the Church now or not, it likely will in the future. And I believe that getting women into the hierarchy will be a positive good.

I don't really follow any of this in the details that others do, so my ponderings linger. The new Pope is 78. John Paul II was 60 (or so) when he became pope, and died at age 85.
So, you what, get a good 6 or 7 years out of him before you do this again? Just seems odd to me.
