What I'm watching (TV)

Comments Filter:
  • Stupid reruns. Oh and waiting impatiently for the next season of Battlefuckingstargalactica. *sigh*
  • WWE RAW
    Robot Chicken
    Family Guy
    MXC
    Aqua Teen Hunger Force

And that's about it. If the planets are aligned correctly, and the shitheads at ESPN drop their coastal bias and the stars smile favorably and the Detroit Tigers are somehow on my TV, I'll watch them. And in the fall I'll watch the Ohio State Buckeyes play, when they're on TV, and I may watch some NBA and some NHL playoff games - NHL is more likely since I'm not a big basketball fan (still pulling for the Pistons though).

    • If it's not sports, I like my shows to be ridiculous and funny.

Similar for me. I've wathed more TV in the past 3 weeks in a motel room than I have in the previous year combined.

      Family guy.
      The Daily Show/Colbert Report
      MXC
      Cops
      House
      UFC fights.
  • RCN dropped OLN a few years ago, at least in our zone. (As my wife put it, "Oh, no! The Lance Armstrong channel is gone!") I've been growing increasingly dissatisfied with RCN anyway, but now that we won't be getting the NHL playoffs, I really need to look into an alternative.
  • Those are the same shows, and the only shows, I keep up with. Though I missed both the latest Prison Break and Alias. Alias someone else has recorded and will watch this weekend, Prison Break I'll have to download from somewhere.
  • My list looks more like this:

    The Wiggles
Bear in the Big Blue House
    Bob the Builder
    Seasame Street

On the odd occasion I actually get the tv myself:

    Mythbusters
    Iron Chef America
    Good Eats
    Discoveries this Week

I am such a goddamned geek. All I watch is FoodTV, HGTV, DIY, National Geographic, History Channels, Discovery* and on rare occasion SciFi. I haven't watched anything on broadcast TV in literally years. I really should save money and just cancel them, but I'm so damned lazy.

    * Discovery, Discovery Health, T

    Hockey
    Baseball
Lots of DVDs (hooray for Bodak's netflix account)
    How I Met Your Mother
    Will and Grace
Whose Line Is It Anyway repeats (damn I miss the British version of the show)
just about anything on the HD channels
    • How I Met Your Mother

This show is GREAT, but I have to say Neil Patrick Harris sells it for me.

Whose Line Is It Anyway repeats (damn I miss the British version of the show)

I Tivo these and watch them in three or four episode shots usually in the morning after getting home from work. I tend to fast forward through the bits I don't like. They've become a wonderful sleep aid, laughing almost uncontrollably for close to an hour wears me out and I fall asleep easier.

I miss the British version too... They use to
      • I miss the British version too... They use to run on Comedy Central right?

Yes, they were on comedy central. I guess I always liked it because it was a bit more of the British potty humor that they let on tv as compared to us. Keeping in mind that the American version was shown on ABC, a Disney company, I am sure they held a few things back. Like Robin Williams said in an interview about his experience in making Aladdin on the occasions he adlibbed some jokes that were a bit too blue, he always had someon
        • Anyway, I wonder how much they actually film for one 30 min episode. That if they let the gang riff on a joke and end up filming something like 45 or 60 minutes of stuff for a 30 min episode. Some of the episodes really feel like there is an awkward cut in certains kits, especially like in scenes from a hat and such.

I've wondered the same thing, about the length of the actual shows.

The other bits that seem terribly short tend to be props. One of my favorites but generally woefully short or right at the ver
  • Stargate: SG1
    Stargate: Atlantis
    Battlestar Galactica (the new one)
    Dr. Who

Yeah, my MythTV box is busy on Fridays recording the Sci-Fi channel. Thankfully I have three tuners for the odd situation where there might be something else on that I need to watch.

The Shield on DVD (Damn RW straight to hell!) has caused me to spend a lot of time watching TV. A lot of time. No, like watched-13-episodes-in-one-weekend lot of time.
    • I *LIKE* the new Doctor. He's just enough of an ass to be appropriate. I liked how he threw the "new kid" out for trying to change things.

      The short list:

      Lost
      Doctor Who
      Law & Order: Everything
      Numb3rs (droolfest)
      Medium
      Scrubs

  • Based on your list, I think you'd like it. Simply fantastic writing, IMHO.
    • oh yeah, forgot House.

Love his sarcastic wit, getting tired of the same victim presents with weird ailment, gets worse, they intubate, put them on roids, House figures out the patient is lying, they get the patient better.

Plus, he's never wrong. Ever. And the monkeys he has working for him keep arguing. Oh well, I watch it for his awesome sarcasm.

      House rules.
  • House, Lost, NFL Total Access (NFL Network).
  • Shows I try not to miss:

    Lost
    Battlestar Galactica
This Old House Hour (TOH + Ask TOH)

Shows I'll stop and watch when channel surfing:

    Mythbusters
    Good Eats
    Anything with Rachael Ray :)

  • House, Lost, America's Next Top Model, the OC (despite having fallen off).
  • Samurai 7
Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations -- the Quebec show from a couple weeks ago was the best one I've seen. I was in tears laughing.
    Stargate: Atlantis
Justice League Unlimited (Cancelled, last few episodes finally running)
    The Batman
    Batman The Animated Series
    How I Met Your Mother
Smallville -- I watch one out of three episodes, its getting too soap operaish
    Sopranos
    Who's Line Is It Anyway
    Teenange Mutant Ninja Turtles
The War At Home -- Michael Rapaport rules
    Dinner for Five
    Inside the Actors Studio

  • Sopranos?

Really, that's all the "TV" I watch. I have picked up a couple of shows on DVD via Netflix that are pretty good. But other than that, we just don't watch TV. Hubby has his geek shows, but I tune out as much as possible.

  • Just packed up the satellite receivers and all but one telly. But when I'm not packing to move...

    • House. Hugh Laurie is perfect for that role if only because the British have always been better at making sympathetic lead characters out of assholes.
    • NCIS. Could you imagine a real military outfit working like that? It's like "CSI meets McHale's Navy"! I've been told that I could be the inspiration for DiNozzo. Ain't nobody smacking me in the back of the head like that, though.
    • Numb3rs. I've groaned at some o

    • South Park (Comedy Central)
    • Sopranos (HBO)
    • The Wire (HBO)
    • Deadwood (HBO)
    • Entourage (HBO)

    • Robot Chicken (Cartoon Network)
    • Frontline (PBS)
    • Nova (PBS)

And I usually skip between MTV Jams and VH-1 Classic if nothing else is on. I used to watch a lot of BET but it's become pretty damn staid after Big Tigger left Rapcity. There are other shows I pick up now and then: Sportscenter, reruns of Battlefields, Seinfeld. But not a lot of major
