  • I plan to have children... well, I mean I plan to be involved in the making of the children, my wife will "have" them. I'm not plumbed for it. :-)

    no no no no no.

And by no, I mean "no."

So this is one of those cases where No means No.

So this is one of those cases where No means No.

Finally! Someone else that understands. My answer, in case you hadn't realised, is an emphatic NO. Not now, not later. In fact never. Fortunately, my other third feels at least as strongly about it as I do :-)

      • My favorite is when you try your best to get across to people that there is no chance in the totality of reality, and the respond "well, maybe one day..."
I'm sorry, what about my "NO" made you think "YES, LATER ON"?

parents especially fond of that, however I wonder how much of it is A) them realizing the sum total of their life was raising a child, and if you don't come to the same existential conclusion their life is worthless, or B) they stopped listening to me as a teenager (and rightly so!) and just for
        • Can I ask you two what's so terrible about having kids?

The birth of my son (BTW - which means 'yes' to the poll, but you already knew that) was the happiest day of my life, and I can't even describe what life has been like with a child.

Oh, and for the poll, we plan on having more, just not yet (maybe when joey turns 3?).
          • Reasons why I won't be, not in any order:

            Massive time drain

Requires attention when I don't want to give it

All the negative behaviors, are more trouble than the fun stuff

I don't think I'd be a very capable father based on my life and those I know

The trouble with fatherhood is you can tell me what a joy it is, and how the tantrums are outweighed by playing baseball with the kids, but I'll only know if I made a mistake when its too late.

    • nonsense is better than no sense at all.

it's those personal acts that cut through the crap.

proof that two wrights do in fact make a wrong.

(i think i butchered that last one.)

    Yes.
  • No.

And I have been on the lookout for those hypothetical "your first born" contracts so if I should ever sire a hatchling I'd know I could dispose of it with ease.
  • n/t
  • maybe..

When I say yes, she says no...
when I say no, she says yes...

So if we can ever completely agree...then maybe...

None yet. Trying to, but not easy.

We keep practicing, which is a sweet thing :-)

    • I've only refused sex one time in my life. That is when my wife wanted to get pregnant. After several nights, I needed a break.

(BTW, my answer is obviously 'yes')
  • by einstein ( 10761 )
    yep.
  • I don't plan to... now.

But in the future? Hell, I have trouble keeping an opinion on what my favorite color is from year to year... let alone big stuff.
  • Yes
  • Need to settle home life a bit more before I'm willing to subject my kids to it.

I feel that I am way too young to even think about having kids. Unless something unbelievably amazing happens that changes my very core, I will not be giving birth ever.
    • that amazing thing you are talking about is called hormones and 20,000 years of instinct.

I was in your position a few years ago.

Now, I can say, yeah, I'd like some lil Em's running around...just not yet.
    • I'd imagine that getting pregnant would definitely change your very core...or did you mean your head or heart as your core? :-)
  • Yes, someday I would like to have children. As one of 2.5 children, I think a family is a nice thing.

Not only do I not plan on having them anytime soon, but I am planning on not having them anytime soon. Planning on not is a much better way than not planning, in my opinion.

Still, I have reservations about my ability to function adequately as a parent, but I suppose that is natural.

Kids have a poor power/responsibility rating. Computers and cats are much better.
  • One.
  • Enough people in the world already.
  • As in "physically have a person sqeeze their way out of your body?" Hell no. And by that I mean NO. Never. Not a chance in the firey depths of hell.

As in "perhaps someday attain some children who have no parents?" Maybe.

Since all the hard work will be done by someone else I'm all for it. :P
