When a celebrity is known enough to have a captured audience no matter how mediocre the slop they put out is. In which case, the more slop the better. Meanwhile, an up and coming artist with the same or better content would struggle to get any traction at all. Guess there's a lot more of the same old thing in our future.

Sorry, but I've interacted with people. No matter how easy you make it, a huge number will not give two shits about doing something properly unless there's an immediate social or monetary penalty. I've met people who take pride in throwing trash on the street because a) they pay taxes and b) they provide jobs.

Considering how critical early access to the internet was for my development, I feel the restrictions being imposed are a digital and social lobotomy. And here in UK we're banning YouTube, arguably the greatest source of engaging educational material available, but allowing kids to marinate in netflix slop.

As hard as it might be to relate to someone carrying six digits in cash, crypto or gold... Or as easy it is to point and laugh at someone losing money in crypto... I think we should celebrate these guys coming forward and reporting it. Most scam victims feel too ashamed to confess to being fooled, and it makes it easier for scammers to get away with it and target us.

Not necessarily. I don't think anyone would track where I got off. And here in UK I do buy digital tickets, but I do that on the app. The ticket is universal wherever I want to go. When I get on the bus, I just show driver the app screen and go on. Nobody ever scanned the qr code. If I buy a weekly ticket, it's nobody's business how much I travel. And I guess cash is still an option. Plus if someone were to correlate credit card usage to point of sale, they would have to get access to two separate systems. Probably by legal means, perhaps with a warrant. Again, this is not a concern over criminals. Building everything I to one system makes bulk data collection almost inconvenient to avoid.

The fear is this would very easily turn into mass surveillance. Having a video record someone could check after the fact is fine. Checking against a database of criminals sounds fine. But what you get really quick is a database of everyone using public transport, when, and where they went. Who were they there with and what did they wear. This will then be used by stalkers and advertisers. I'm not even worried about false positives...

Some of the best educational content is also on YouTube... Certainly beats netflix. Oh well. Nothing toxic ever happened back when I was growing up without tiktok.
