Wrong. They have to have probable cause. Detaining a US citizen without probable cause is illegal. Someone's appearance or use of a foreign language does not qualify as probable cause.

Here are some names:
  1. Leonardo Garcia Venegas - detained twice during construction raids despite showing his REAL ID
  2. George Retes - a combat veteran detained for three days
  3. Julio Noriega - detained for over 10 hours despite having his ID

Of course it is legal in the US. There are no federal laws, and no state laws in many places including New York, that restrict how many hours an adult employee can be asked to work. And if they're in a position that is classified as exempt from overtime, they don't get any additional pay for the extra hours.

So what happens when some dipshit on a bike or e-bike pulls out in front of a car causing them to swerve and hit someone else, and said dipshit just takes off?

Any vehicle that operates on public roads should be required to have some sort of identification tag and require licensure and insurance. Don't like it? Then keep your shit in your driveway.
