My understanding is that the 2nd amendment is to allow us to protect ourselves against a tyrannical government. So, I guess whatever it would take to make the government not want to become tyrannical, but still keep the general population safe. I guess that's where the line is.

Abuse doesn't have to happen in the courtroom. What if it's not my phone, but my wife's/daughter's/child's/etc.

But, like the TSA, there is also a wide-open door for abuse.
