Journal Journal: Am I changeing your opinion? Or are you doing that yourself?
Can I change you enough so that you change your opinion? Or if I do keep going on and on and keep presenting you with the same data or a religious attitude that you previously disagreed with, and decided to changed your mind, did you really change your mind? Or did I brainwash you?
Ive heard that the media knows how this little game works all well with advertising yet my friends seem to think that if YOU can't ever change someone else's mind be it if they have an addiction, are suicidal or believe in some religious madness so much they don't accept anything else.
Is this stupidity? Is it staying to your beliefs? What's the difference in changing someones opinion, brainwashing and "deciding to change your own opinion" which is what my friends believe is the only real thing that is possible, short of hardcore brainwashing. Am I being to harsh on them by being so literal to ask these questions of what makes a person who they are and the decisions they make in their everyday lives?
If you cannot truly "change someones mind" or change their opinion, why then do corporate interests shove all this advertising down our throats and change it every couple of weeks to keep it "fresh"? Why are their banner ads all over the web flashing YOU ARE A WINNER!!!!!!!111. Is everyone just so stupid to believe they are or after seeing it so many times does a novice to the internet just say in their head "eh alright ill give it a shot maybe I've won something!".
Why do so many people seem to fervently deny that you can change someones mind when from my humble perspective its our very experiences of interacting with things that shapes our minds. Or are they right and we are just deciding in ours heads, even if its the same fast food or car commercial, ad or billboard, that yes WE the masses accept this normalcy of the world we live in the everything is the same and theres not many choices around so ill live with the status quo kind of mentality. You tell me, the last time someone gave you an opinion on something did that change your mind about that opinion? Or did you make your own decision based on that opinion as how to react? If you hadn't heard the opinion in the first place, how could you change your own mind without having that change of an opinion be put there?
