I never think about battery life on my Pebble Time. I throw it on the charger for the 15 minutes in the shower and I'm consistently between 90-100%, and when I go away for a weekend I don't bother bringing my charger and am at 20% at the end when I get home.

There is a plug-in for chrome (and a similar one for Firefox) called Video Speed Controller that let's you change playback speed from .1 to 4x in .1 increments with audio and up to 16x without. It is even bound to hot keys for fine ground control.

Dell has a developer version of the XPS 13 inifinity edge laptop that is $100 cheaper and ships with Ubuntu pre-installed. Furthermore the hardware is identical so all drivers are supported for install on the widows version. I am assuming that with a little work these drivers and tools could be ported to other distros if needed. I plan on getting the windos version of an XPS in the next year or two so that I can install linux and use the windows licence on a virtual machine as I am now so that I can run Autodesk Inventor and other other few pieces of software that I use with no linux parallels.

Scratch.mit.edu is a great visual programming environment for building games. It runs on all platforms and the raspberry pi. If you want to move into electronics and robotics there is even scratch for arduino!

You can actually go from scratch to Scratch For Arduino if you want to smoothly move into hardware fun. It is easy to set up and very rewarding as it gived you lots of feedback as to what the Arduino is "thinking" and shows how software can hardware can interact.
