Well... lets just call it ignorance... All them "disagree" mails seem to be sent by people who are ignorant to /. and its origins. Built by geeks who are obvious savvy to flamewars on usenet... The mods/devs understand that its impossible to moderate forums for "niceness" and "on-topic" when they generate enough traffic. So... Get with the program or GTFO. *grabs coat*
