The old local power plants cost more to run than buying electricity from the grid. However with Bezos' version of time share, you'll still need to pay for the network, and you'll still need to buy or rent a local terminal / Chromebook / Cloud P/C. That local device won't need powerful hardware, but it will need some. So the costs are almost the same, especially if you factor in a monthly 365-like subscription. Sounds like a perfect use for all those old P/Cs that aren't allowed to run Windows anymore ( or those Win7 boxes in the closet ). Put Linux and something like Libreoffice on them and they're more than enough to serve almost any business requirement. And even if you are forced to use some cloud software, they'll do as a Cloud P/C for no additional cost.
