Submission + - JPMorgan Chase Disables Employee Comments After Return-to-Office Backlash (msn.com)

AsylumWraith writes: From the article:

"JPMorgan Chase shut down comments on an internal webpage announcing the bank’s return-to-office policy after dozens of them criticized the move and at least one suggested that affected employees should unionize, according to people familiar with the matter."

"After the bank announced the policy change, it posted it to an internal company website where it often shares news. Employees are able to post comments that include their first and last names.

Many employees shared concerns such as increased commuting costs, child-care challenges and the impact on work-life balance. One person suggested that they should consider unionizing to fight for a hybrid-work schedule, the people familiar with the matter said."

Submission + - Amazon Workers "Rage-applying" to Companies after 5-Day RTO Mandate (nypost.com)

AsylumWraith writes: The New York Post is reporting that Amazon employees are "rage-applying" for positions at different companies after Amazon's CEO, Andy Jassy, mandated 5-Day RTO starting early next year.

"One employee told Fortune that he was hired remotely in May last year — a month after the company made its initial announcement telling workers they were expected in the office three days a week.

'I left a decent company I live near to go to Amazon since it was working from home,' said the worker, who was identified only by his first name, Luca. 'For me, it’s not that I don’t want to go in the office, there is no office close to me.'"

Submission + - 67% of American Tech Workers Interested in Joining a Union (visualcapitalist.com)

The percentage is highest at companies like Intuit, with 94% or respondents indicating they'd be interested in joining a union. On the other end of the scale, fewer than half of the employees at Apple, Tesla, and Google, who were surveyed were interested in such a move.

Submission + - With a New Commissioner, FCC Finally May Try to Reinstate Net Neutrality (gizmodo.com)

AsylumWraith writes: Gizmodo reports on the possibility of the FCC reinstating Net Neutrality:

"It’s been six years since internet service providers were granted a boon allowing them to push and pull the levers of internet speeds for any website that may not want to pay a ransom. The end to limitations of what is called net neutrality has tugged at the heartstrings of many internet advocates

According to unnamed sources who spoke to Bloomberg, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission is just about ready to announce plans to bring back net neutrality rules. It comes just a few weeks after Congress finally approved new commissioner Anna Gomez, allowing for a 3-2 Democrat majority on total FCC decision-making."
