I read the article over the weekend and I was stuck by the idea that merely sprinkling in more millennials throughout the workforce would somehow make up for decades of poor management decisions and no real strategic direction. It's as if they thought millennials are magic fairy dust that would somehow fix their broken enterprise.

"...company’s apparent strategy of replacing older workers with younger ones and argued that it followed from the determination of Ginni Rometty, then IBM’s chief executive, to seize market share in such cutting-edge fields as cloud services, big data analytics, mobile, security and social media. According to the ProPublica article, based in part on internal planning documents, IBM believed that it needed a larger proportion of younger workers to gain traction in these areas."

Of course training, organizational strategy, and competent leadership have nothing to do with: "cloud services, big data analytics, mobile, security and social media"

I know you may not believe in systemic racism because race is not a factor to non-African Americans. However if you actually listen to African Americans they tell you a different story. In fact it's across the board in the African American community rich and poor Conservative and Liberal. Even African Americans commentators on Fox News who disagree with the BLM movement agree that there is racism built into this country in ways non-Black and Brown folks can't appreciate. If they disagree with BLM they disagree on tactics and politics - not on the fact of racism particularly when it comes Criminal Justice.

Perhaps you should listen to some African Americans. Listen with some empathetic understanding. For Americans this is the red pill.

The high mantle of establishment foreign policy was to maintain or increase American power across the entire world. The world is a complicated and confusing space to operate a diplomatic mission with that goal. It's very difficult to know how keep unintended consequences from defeating your main goal (American power). Speeches and foreign power communication was tightly controlled, reviewed and vetted by experts. Remember all those people on the line with Trump and the Ukrainian prime minister during that infamous impeachment inducing phone call? That's them.

Until Trump there was a firewall of establishment foreign policy wonks who vetted and filtered diplomatic communication especially between sensitive trading partners/Competitors/potential enemies. Their higher echelons (Senior Advisors, Under Secretaries and such) are usually appointed by the sitting president. Until Trump all other presidents listened to them. This president appoints them and then never listens to what they say. Presumably because they're Deep State Experts. Trumps under educated base doesn't want experts. They have mistaken ignorance for wisdom.

I don't care so much if Trump is re-elected (I've hated the man since the 1980s). I care that people with expert knowledge (conservative or liberal) consider consequences of our actions and act appropriately to maintain American power, or at least manage it properly so as to avoid bloody outcomes.

Wait what? I have long thought that we overreacted to this pandemic. In many ways we reacted in the wrong ways, but you blame the medical/epidemiology professions and didn't lay any blame on the Whitehouse? Oh...I get what you are doing. You're up to date on the latest right wing talking points. So, this is the gaslighting we are going to get from the Trump re-election campaign: blame the liberal doctors. Now I understand where you are coming from. Wonderful.

Baloney. You were either lucky, not paying attention, or still on your mom's plan. I remember premiums rising rapidly under Clinton, Bush and Obama. There was no difference in the rate of increase. It was (is) huge yearly increases under all recent administrations. I know this because I paid the premiums. PayPal takes unilateral action for whatever reason - just the same as Manning took unilateral action for his own reasons. PayPal decided for itself that they wanted to restrict funds for Manning's defense. They did not confer with Manning, his supporters, or his family. Bradley Manning decided for himself that he should release thousands of classified documents. He didn't confer with any other American. He just decided for himself. interesting... Apparently there is no monopoly here on "moral bankruptcy."
