If your company is only focused on making profit, your products will suffer and a competitor who is focused on deviling the best product for the lowest price will win.
Take a small restaurant that turns into a chain then into a fast food chain. They build a reputation by offering high quality food but as they grow they try to save money by having more processed food, mixing more filler into their hamburgers, etc. until their reputation changes from good food to only-for-profit garbage and people go to the next local start up that is selling good food.
