It's possible he's just a useful idiot for the Russians. When Russia provided him hacked emails from the DNC he ran with it even though there was nothing of substance in them. Didn't see any publication of messages from the RNC at the time despite them also getting hacked (though maybe Russia kept those to themself).

It's a democratic republic so the will of the people isn't directly counted, but due to the way it's setup with the electoral college there are cases when a majority of people want something but we end up with something else

Well no one says to "weld everyone into their houses for Science!" and "men can be impregnates by women" while nonsense doesn't affect anyone, so definitely that one.

A few reasons:
1. Providing a phone number can expose more personal information that some people would like as the phone number might tie to other information through external databases. A username would only be able to do that through Signal's databases.
2. People don't want to be contacted via phone/sms and don't want to share that
3. Many 2FA still use SMS which is vulnerable to a sim-swapping attack if the attacker knows the phone number

Seems like he kind of blew it when he started acting as a Russian/Republican asset since he lost a lot of supporters that saw him as more neutral.

Well objectively that's incorrect, but if you aren't able to accurately judge the reliability of any news organization, you should be trusting Fox much less than others

But car and watch enthusiasts aren't the majority of the population. Of course there will always be people that like the old (sometimes more complicated) technologies, but that's not indicative of trends of the general public.

Basically because they're really cheap and "work" out of the box. It IS possible to reflash the Wyze cams with new firmware and you can use a wyze-bridge software running on a server to fix some of the connectivity issues if you connect it to a local service, but it's a bit of a pain to get setup.

For sure things could have been handled better. Providing masks to the general public (especially those that come into contact with others most often) and instructions on use would have been better than the confusing mess we had. Unfortunately being an extremely contagious disease, it's not really possible to just protect part of the population as they'll inevitably come into contact with the rest. The early "social distancing" measures seemed to be the most effective at addressing the crisis but that's not something that could work long term.

I imagine you could get a video showing that with basically any question if you asked enough people

Probably consult my pandemic response team. I imagine a few things that could be done would be:
  - Start stockpiling resources like PPE that would be needed,
  - Push for more research into treatment and protection
  - Issue travel bans or quarantines of people coming from areas that have high numbers
  - In general get the population to be ready for it
