I agree with you. InfoWorld has composed a barrage of Anti-Google articles for years now mostly because of Microsoft's hands being in their back pocket. Sorry but I'm getting tired of hearing their same crap. Google is simply not going anywhere. Especially when on the other side of the spectrum, you hear news about 25 million people signing up for Google+ in the matter of just a couple weeks. AdWords alone will grow substantially thanks to G+.

so you're going to sue Google for giving you an OS to put on your Chromebook in the first place? It wouldn't even be called a Chromebook if it wasn't for the OS in the first place. Not to mention, chromebook is one of those coined terms. It is like trying to sue the person that came out with the term Notebook.

As an avid fan of all things Apogee, I can safely say that using DOSBox is like a dream come true. It is very easy to use and is compatible with just about everything. Not to mention you can utilize things like the Modem and IPX emulation so you can play your favorite old games over the net. DOSBox is emulation of an old platform for a modern world. Using an old DOS machine is cool too if you have the time trying to figure out what IRQ your soundcard uses, but save yourself the hassle of SET BLASTER this and that, and just use DOSBox. Plus you can still customize your AUTOEXEC.BAT. Nothing like creating a nice custom batch menu for easily loading your favorite games and apps.

I was lucky to purchase the nice 4 cd pack of Slackware at my local computer back in 1997. Right along with my first two 10baseT nics and a horrid 4 port hub. Learned the ins and outs of the famous ipfwadm (pre ipchains and iptables) for some sweet ip masquerading. And who could forget minicom and those lovely pap and chap scripts? And dare I say it, BitchX + prevail?

There was nothing like staying home sick from school, dialing up to one of my favorite local BBS's, and waiting a few hours for the Commander Keen shareware version to download. The game was great and the first episode had some pretty sweet PC speaker sound effects. This was definitely an underrated side scroller. Action packed, challenging, and kept you wanting to play more. It's no Doom, but we're not even comparing the same kind of game here. Simply holding the [G] [O] and [D] keys at the same time enabled God Mode. Can't beat that. And that super jump that allows you to pretty much float across an entire map was also pretty bad ass. Can't believe it's already been 20 years.

Although I appreciate this review being a old school gamer, it is impossible to give a great review on Doom 17 years later. Experiencing a game like this for the first time when there wasn't anything else like it was truly amazing. There are alot of nay-sayers commenting and they are most likely after doom's time. I just remember those late nights when everyone was asleep and all the lights were off. It was just you, a pair of headphones hooked up to your 8 bit sound blaster card, and the frightening glow of your 13 inch CRT screen. When you reached the later levels of the game where the monsters scream the most deathly noises you've ever heard, it almost made you shit your pants. Nonetheless I kept playing it over and over again. It really shaped future FPS games. Wolf 3D was awesome of course, but doom was simply a horror game. Great stuff.
