Attachmate To Acquire Novell For $2.2B Cash 221

wiredmikey and a few others wrote in to let us know that Novell has agreed to be acquired by Attachmate Corporation for $6.10 per share in cash, in a transaction valued at approximately $2.2 billion. The Boston Globe reports that the deal also includes the sale of some intellectual assets to a consortium organized by Microsoft. Attachmate plans to operate Novell and SUSE as separate business units. Here is the press release.

comforteagle writes "Senator Wyden of Oregon has objected to a bill in committee that if passed would have given the government the ability to censor the Internet. His objection effectively stop its current passing, forcing it to be introduced again if the bill is to continue — which it may not. Oregonians, please send this man pats on the back."

The stock exchange’s Turquoise dark pool, or anonymous trading venue, was taken offline for two hours on Tuesday morning, and later that day the LSE said it was delaying a key migration to open source systems until next year... One large shareholder in the exchange told the Financial Times that he suspected sabotage by an employee, because the LSE had cut staff numbers by more than 10 percent."
