But russia is that source of gas. Threatening to not buy russian gas only hurts europe right now. We know this because russia has cut off supply as a political weapon in the past.

I think you misunderstood. The retaliation is by Russia, not Europe, ie cutting Europe off from its natgas supply.

How would US export controls affect Europe?

By retaliating against USA's allies.

Europe buys gas in Euros. One of the reasons for creating the Euro was to give Europe protection from this kind of action by the US, since paying in USD means the US has some jurisdiction.

Doesn't matter what currency you use to buy natural gas if the producer wont sell it to you.

Speaking strictly from an engineering POV (putting aside opinions about ads in apps), what's the rationale for this type of logic to be in Qt? Sure Qt is a graphical UI library and ads are visual but Qt is proposing a full advertising platform here, including turnkey connectivity to a Supply Side Platform (SSP) to deliver the ads. This means lots of unrelated logic, such as networking and credential logic.

Ironic you should say I'm knee-jerking when your original reply did nothing to address the actual content of what I wrote. You instead redirected to how Netflix's earnings met expectations, which means nothing since it's the earnings themselves relative to the valuation model which ultimately matter.

I never claimed Netflix was losing money - I listed their net earnings in my original post, and described how investors should be wary about the leeway GAAP provides companies in attributing cash flow and expenses to earnings.

The fact you keep resorting to calling me names only serves to undermine your argument. If you're convinced you're right and I'm wrong then let the merit of your argument demonstrate that on their own. Name calling is a poor substitute for a persuasive argument.

Revenue for their latest quarter was $7.7 billion but their net profit was $607 million. Actual free cash flow was minus $569 million. Even after the recent drop the company still has a market valuation of $176 billion. That puts them at a forward P/E of 72, which is well above their current growth. And that's assuming you even believe the accounting they use to get to net earnings vs cash flow - GAAP has lots of "gaps".

Sorry but I respectfully disagree. The media got it right on this one. Musk's intentions were clear from his follow-up comments, including this one:

"Musk then told BuzzFeed that Unsworth had a 12-year-old child bride based on information from a private investigator who'd previously been convicted of fraud."
