Comment ChatGPT is a programming language, or adjacent (Score 1) 64

Microsoft is allegedly trying to limit the functionality of ChatGPT to do what you tell it to do. Your problem here is, it's designed to be very flexible about doing what you tell it to do, and that is actually one of its main features. It can't be removed, or you won't have a ChatGPT.

They can't "fix" this. People will immediately come up with work-arounds.

Comment "the excellent 8-bit MOS 6502 CPU" (Score 0) 64

...this turd of an early processor was wildly obsolete by the time people started putting it in computers. Its sole advantage was that it was unbelievably cheap. Most of your work had to be done using eight-bit CPU registers, and there were only three of those.

Apple's great success came from providing all the software and hardware data for their machines, so they were easy for everybody to work with. Everybody else was trying to keep their machines locked down, and wasn't handing out any useful information to anyone. Steve Jobs hated the openness and later went with the failed walled-garden approach for the Mac, whereas IBM decided to give you all the software and hardware information you wanted... leading to IBM-type PCs overwhelming the market and Apple becoming a niche product.

Yes, I look forward to the chance to tell the AI that I want Kentucky Fried Children. Look, there are definite benefits to having been a computer programmer since those things were carved out of rocks. If you think I can't convince the AI to fry up some children, stand back and hold my beer, and put your damned kids back on their leashes if you want to keep them.

Comment Finally! It's the Year of AI (Score 1) 28

The solution turned out to be, we just had to describe all computer programs as being AI. So easy!

Scientists originally predicted that all things computer would be described as "Cyber", although "Crypto" would later turn out to be a strong contender.
