It isn't just communist countries.
It probably wasn't sabotage though. Just typical contractors under pressure to meet a deadline so they cut corners, use sub-par material if they can get away with it, alter the design to suit the resources they have on hand.
The original design probably called for a 1 meter opening instead of 2, and was intended to go in at a 45 degree angle, another 45 bend to go back before turning straight down. That would have added an additional week, plus waiting for the delivery of the material for the 1 meter port. Since they had the 2 meter exhaust port collar on hand, they said "fuck it."
Damn contractors like that giving us all a bad name.
The Emperor should have called Adam Carolla.

The perpetual distribution rights have nothing to do with copyright law. That was an agreement between Lucas and Fox. Lucas needed money to make the movie so he sold perpetual distribution rights to fox. Once Star Wars did so well, he was able to fund the other movies without having to sell so many rights.

Submission + - SpaceX Wins Injunction Against Russian Rocket Purchases

Rambo Tribble writes: Reuters is reporting that Space Exploration Technologies, aka SpaceX, has won a Federal Claims Court temporary injunction against the purchase by United Launch Alliance of Russian-made rocket boosters, intended for use by the United States Air Force. In her ruling Judge Susan Braden prohibited ULA and the USAF, 'from making any purchases from or payment of money to [Russian firm] NPO Energomash.' United Launch Alliance is a joint venture of Boeing and Lockheed Martin.

I don't see how the "mainstream" market would really have a need for 3d printers. Those who are hobbyists will always find a use for it, but "mainstream?" Maybe I don't understand what the author means by that.
We use a 3d printing service at work when we are prototyping hardware and light fixtures and such. Those services are getting cheaper and I see that as the way the "mainstream"market market will go. The only thing I have found to make is custom lego mini figure accessories for the kids.

Except that the 2 "habitats" that Bigelow launched are not habitable. They were for test launching/inflating, but they are not set up with any sort of life support. Those are still in development.
It'd be great if Bigelow can carry on and I'd love to see Bigelow and SpaceX do something together.
I haven't heard much of them the past few years, except that they are currently developing a habitat that would be rated for manned missions. I hope they are moving along with it.
Although the next ting they should do is hire a web developer that isn't stuck in the late '90s. Cheese.
