Roku should just make it so their TVs have a naked Roku on a card you can replace/upgrade down the road if you want.

I really hoped TVs would have some type of standard slot for Roku, Apple, Google etc ... one might say that's what the "stick" devices are but those are the low end of the experience spectrum.

One of our favorite benefits is at home charging so the car i ready to go each day. This means never having to go somewhere to "fill up" in the morning before our commute to work because one of us forgot. It seems like a little thing at first but my wife tends to run late and that extra detour to the gas station on the way to work sometimes leads to a much longer commute time.

There is also the potential of "vampire" draw adding up over a few days. Features like Sentry Mode and Cabin Overheat Protection can draw down a battery more than expected over the course of a few days. Of course you can disable these things but ...

Personally I think hybrids (maybe PHEVs) are probably the better choice for people that cannot charge at home.

The MS Authenticator apps works fine for our org too. Most folks don't realize these MFA apps don't need data connectivity and that the built in passcode option works if they're in their basement.

Another option we have done for the few folks that refuse to use their phone or the app is the TOTP device. Some are pretty cheap ( $20) these days.

Calculate real TCO to put something DIY together that is comparable. Power, space, cooling, hardware, software, etc for something that is just as performant, fault tolerant (from the components all the way up to the datacenter), physically secure, firewalled, all managed for you, etc etc.

Chances are you don't think you need all of that and that is why you say you can do it cheaper. Most folks don't count their time or their employees either.

I'm not saying your wrong. I'm just saying folks that say DIY is cheaper are probably comparing apples to oranges.

We act like everyone is capable when we don't pay competitively. Leadership thinks they save money buy paying below market rates but it is very likely they pay more in lost productivity.

There are (at least) two kinds of leaders. Leaders that hire people that they see as their equals or greater, and leaders that hire people they see as lesser than them. The latter types are the ones demanding workers return to the office.

If you track proper metrics for your org, departments, and workers then you should know where improvements are needed.
