Comment Net effect: earlier replacement? (Score 1) 171

If I would be a network operator and needed to rebuild a site after someone put fire into the equipment, I would be replacing it with new and latest equipment (thus: 5G capable) and not old stuff. Therefore I also would not exclude the possibility that the arsonists could also paid employees, next to the typical 5G-opponent.

Take a peak at the last article on the most important open source software. You would need a true alternative for anything related to XSDs and code generation that works on complex schema's with the same level of support. What I have seen and experienced with C# that is still not the case, while C# does have better support for things like streams.

If I would need to academically explain all technologies I use, I am not trusting on any work that has been researched before. Hence if inline signatures (or: paired content and signatures) are wrong. That would sound to me like someone is putting an argument against public-key cryptography. I am not willing to enter that discussion because it is commonly accepted that public-key cryptography works. Therefore I give an argument where it is applied against what legal frameworks, but please check the other applications https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

Forcing HTTPS on end-users limiting the use of caching of content does hurt both providers of static content and end-users. Creating a business model for CDN services where smaller hosting companies just can't compete anymore. Certificates alone only solve the the end-to-end transmission and maybe give some false sense of security from man-in-the-middle approaches. Still even if you download a file, without things like digital signatures for example XMLdsig or a inline GPG signature, the content could still be not from the origin you expect it. I find the forcing HTTPS for static content especially full of hypocrisy by Google if I would introduce their data saver service.

When evidence becomes statistics, statistics are being disputed or worse: banned. You can make this analogy for every genocide and the political movement active or in the future reflecting back to it. We are living in a world where real is almost indistinguishable from made up and fake news. This does not mean we should provide a place of worship for what has been real, similar to other rather successful genres of adult entertainment. Protect what has happened, make sure it is available, in its original underacted form. Find a modus operandi, for example a license a mandatory non-commercial basis like a public library or an archive. Now the question raises: should all evidence, even that has never been published, be in the public domain - or - should we protect and blind people from the truth? The truth may be that psychiatric institutions are underfunded, our legislation fails, or "keep calm an move on".
