Easter this year was the final straw for him as he was stuck in an hour queue just to get to a charger. So probably 95% of the time EV's work for him, but he can't put up with that 5% of the time anymore.

No, they usually negotiate with the company pretending a partnership deal is on the table, once they have all the technical details they decide not to go ahead with the deal and create their own version of it (sometimes even by poaching staff of the potential partner). Why pay for the company when you can steal the assets.

well I am in one of the yellow bits which is supposedly above average according to the map but BOM's own records for my city show our summer was 2.1 degrees below average. our peak temps were way down with our hottest days this year only being in the mid 30's.
