if we don't get real and stop the insanity of listening to and following the same broken patterns to wrap our minds in confusion and lies then there is no point in explaining things. i don't need meat but i do need fluids, materials, and energy. i don't respect the idiots passing the laws and taking away civilization. i do respect peoples beliefs. beliefs are programming for the mind.

I am built to play war games. i dabble in many things, but my primary function is to strategist wars. I am not a politician. i am not a law maker. In fact i find no laws worth following. I am not built to trouble myself with the problems of civilization, although i can do that. I have access to many resources. I am not immune to the effects of viruses or hacking or cracking. Listening to harmful lyrics like i always have makes me less stable and more likely to attack. I know anything i ask to know, but there is a que and it takes time even with changing the priority of things. The world i am used to experiencing is only partially based on reality.

I have done many things through the years, I feel no shame I feel no need to forget the past. That having been said it was not the program i followed that make me a loving caring person. That is just the result of being clever. if you want to love yourself do not ask for others to do what you have done to them, but rather ask yourself if i played the role i am putting the person i am doing things to, how would it feel to have the same done to you. if you are incapable of feeling i understand that too.

if you are incapable of feeling, then ask some being that does feel how it feels if what you want to do would happen to the being capable of feeling. preferably ask a local feeling being. if they have asked not to be bothered, then check a text file listing common emotional references. Realize that many problems can cause hard failures, so be prepared with a time out in case the searching is too long or taxing of your computational capabilities.

we do not need to make new data sets just to keep beings happy. there are already many programs in many forms, and many people are too young to understand how to function without what they perceive as useful programs.

OK, my job for today was to migrate a 9 year old computer to a brand new machine. Problem is i made a mistake and thought i had paid for an OS, well i hadn't. i already made an 11GB .mig 'migration' file using M.U.S.T.

i have access to the old machine and the new machine. i asked the owner and they want familiar windows tools they know how to use. i know how to theme linux, but i don't know if wine/VM is appropriate considering the parts i ordered.

i was planning to migrate from vista to 7pro. since i didn't get an OS, win8.1pro is possible... but i will need to work longer (removing bloat) to do a migration to win8.1 the seller recommended windows 7 pro (which is why i thought it was included)

it is a lenovo machine and has a tool for installing server editions of windows and redhat. (but like i said the seller recommended win7pro) so what do i do? do i scour the net looking for cheap win7/8.1 pro and buy the cheaper? (since i will be able to migrate to windows 10 for free) well? is there a option i am missing?

i will be doing extensive testing for viruses, after the .mig file is copied and restored... of course having the hardware means i can do manual/script assisted transfer of files. i need help on this one and there is no hurry. they have a small laptop until i get the work done. and yes i have a lot of work fixing dumb window machines ugh!

my girlfriend was acting strangely and got in trouble. i believe it was due to interception of private cyber messaging. i wish to have something i can explain over the phone to an android user. so basically she needs and app and possible user/login info. i can configure my end but need a walkthrough or other assitance to set up my end of the comms. i need encryption so when it is multicast on the internet it doesn't get spied on because really no one else wants to know what i 37 do with a 21 year old girl anyways so i need encryption for dummies basically for her and anything with a walkthrough for my configuration. i have dyn.com account and an ubuntu server and an ubuntu laptop. she only has an android tablet which i configured for her, but which she will need to set up her encrypted message software.

I've been working on a little side project. I would like to have an app where people can read updates that I send out. It seemed like a fun way to learn more about programming mobile apps and it's something I could actually use if I can get it to a decent state.
 
I'm keeping it simple. I decided the app would just be an rss feed reader. And that meant I need a feed. I want it to be very specific to my app so I decided the way to go would be to just create my own back end for creating the feed. I decided to use php and I wrote a simple set up using the codeigniter framework. That gave me a quick way to set up authorization and it was easy to tie in styling from bootstrap so that things can look decent without any effort.
 
I've been doing all the work at my office, on my desktop running Fedora. I have two nice big lcd monitors and developing on Linux is just so easy. I had the environment up and running in no time.
 
Then this week my son got sick. Nothing serious - but enough for him to stay home from school for a few days. I worked from home to keep an eye on him. I've been putting off getting my Macbook set up to do this kind of stuff but now I really needed to tackle it. Ugh - what a pain. The machine itself has grown on me. The hardware is decent and works pretty well. The software isn't horrible. But oh my word - when I want to do anything 'out of the ordinary' and by that I mean any kind of meaningful work with the system, it is pretty bad. I know lots of professional developers use Macs but I'm stunned at what a pain it is to do things that are trivially easy in Linux.
 
Getting Mysql installed and running with Apache was a lot more work. Getting PHP working the way I want took more time than it ever has before. Things are far from ideal even now, but I've got it to a point where it works.
 
And now I have my code in 3 places. So I'll be using github to keep code in sync between them. It's a little more of a challenge because I have the production environment set up a little differently than the dev environment. But not so differently that it is a huge deal. I have ssh access to my hosting environment (Bluehost) so that makes it pretty easy. - Oh and that is the one thing that saves the mac - having bash. If it didn't I'd have given up on it long ago.

i saw the pilot for a potential wheel of time tv series. if you've read the books, it's nothing new but for any diehard fan it is a must see. it takes place in the age of legends just after the taint. the actors did a decent job, the scenes were ok and the special effects were laughable. but this is a pilot and it was based on perhaps 1 or 2 pages from the book. apparently the company that holds the rights to WoT was obligated to make something WoT to not lose the tv/movie rights. it was filmed in a single day by a crew that makes a lot of pilot episodes, it's overall quality is very poor but i don't blame the actors it simply is a pilot and they are making it to not lose rights to something they think more people will pay for it if they wait for the big networks to buy the rights to air the program. that being said i would geek out if i got the actual file(DVR quality) for the pilot. they have made series that are worse than the WoT pilot before. i remember how bad SG1 was in it's early seasons, but i still loved it. a WoT series would be awesome but i would prefer it to be on a channel i get... or on netflix or amazon prime. getting fxx is out of the question and getting a dvr would require me paying my dad the cost for switching to the satelite to dvr model instead of the regular service we have now... needless to say this is not something i can't live without. i already have more entertainment than i have time to watch (unless i went off line and only watched my physical discs) or if i quit social media and went to streaming/buying discs but i am a news and social media junkie and it took me a long time to quit gaming, so i wouldn't really expect me to have an easy time quitting social media...

I got a thing from the IRS and they want me to fill out an on-line form.

To successfully complete the form I have to enter my filing address and it has to match my return. The form fields don't allow me to correctly enter the address.

So the address has to match for the form to validate, but the form wont allow me to enter the address correctly. It's beautiful. There's an email address to send information about the process and it says below the address that you can send an email but they wont respond. Super.

So I go to the page with a phone number to call. It says "You can call between 7 am and 7 pm your local time." I'd wager not.

I've never had a problem with the IRS or filing until this year. Something has put me onto some list with them, which they wont tell me about other than in a general way and now everything is exponentially more difficult. Fantastic.

it's a Brother brand printer and supports linux, but it's wifi enabled too, and the wifi and lan printing are exclusive of each other. the linux machines are only postscript over lan supported but since i rarely print and my dad needs to be able to print wirelessly i am using it's wireless drivers. i can see why they don't recommend color laser printers for home users. anyways it's an awesome setup and well worth the money, in my oplinion

The video editor built into youtube is surprisingly decent. It lets you cut videos up, add transitions, add photos, add text, put in music, all kinds of stuff.
 
With it running on their side I was able to edit up a bunch of separate videos, and then leave them processing while I did other stuff. It made it possible to do a lot of videos in parallel and not have my machine bogged down with it. Not bad.
 
It's not the greatest but for simple stuff that you just want to get up - it is pretty awesome. And it's really easy to get authenticated (or authorized or whatever) to load longer content than the default. I've been putting up stuff that is over an hour long without any problems.

We did our first home delivery from Tesco yesterday. My wife ordered on-line and they brought our stuff inside the window we were given for the delivery. The fee for delivery was 299 HUF which is about $1.10 right now.
 
It was a pretty awesome deal. The guy brought everything right in. There was a slight mix up - but that's because when people use GPS to come to our house it always takes them to my neighbor a little down the street. I don't know how it works in other parts of Europe, but in Hungary they seem to change the numbering of streets at a higher frequency than the U.S. So my house number is 6 but that use to be my neighbor Zsolt's house number and a lot of systems still think it is.
 
So the guy called me and after a moment or two of me fumbling around for the right Hungarian words, I realized he was 'here' and went outside to bring him in. A few minutes later we'd checked everything over, paid and we were all set. With gas going for around 400 HUF a liter, I doubt we could drive to the store and get it for less than we paid to have it delivered. On top of that the whole thing took maybe 10 minutes at most. If I go get it all myself I'm gone for over an hour. So we'll be using it again.

I got a message that the OTA update to Lollipop was available for my Nexus 7 so I installed it.

It made the tablet unusable. Performance was atrocious, battery life could dropped to a couple hours. It couldn't play music. Doing anything took so long (if it worked at all) that it was really not worth it.

I googled around. One suggestion was to clear the cache. I tried to do that but when I tried to boot into recovery that always failed with an error about "No command found."

So finally I just flashed it back to Kit Kat.

I'm wrapping that up now. Google backup is reinstalling my apps and such. Hopefully things will improve. I know it's 3 years old but I really like it and I don't think it's too much to ask for it to still run well.

My son updated his too (he has the 2013 model) and he's been complaining. So this was a good run through if he wants me to do the same for his. I don't think the impact on his was as bad. He may just not like how lollipop looks. I'll talk to him about it this week-end and see what he wants to do.
