Comment avoiding Feed Recommendations (Score 2) 40

Yeah, it's obvious this was the case.

Sometimes I want to watch a video on YouTube without YouTube thinking my whole life revolves around this new topic. Go ahead, browse a video about breadmaking or farming or restoring tools. Great, now the feed is filled with almost nothing but that sudden new passion, begging for views.

Try viewing it in incognito mode. It's still tracked back to your account, and now you have a feed full of sweater-knitting or lessons on how to pronounce 'Nguyen' or what Taurus means to Sagittarius that you didn't really want to follow.

Sure, but 20% less battery cost could very well make sedans compelling.

I know batteries are getting cheap, but at $100/kwh that's still about $1,500-$2,000 difference (and we're not quite there yet).

Especially at the lower end of the market where sedans seem to be most popular anyway.

I'm not sure about currently, but in the past part of that is that EVs had a lot of extra features so there were more things that could go wrong. Things like carplay and what not were often available in EVs while not on other cars, a lot more advanced cruise controls too.

When measured in issues of first year of ownership the numbers were higher on average.

I think as even economy cars start to get those features that no longer holds.

But also, GMs disaster with their software can't be good for the EV numbers currently. Overall though I think EV issues still lean towards software as brands use them to roll out next gen software beta test.

Also, things like Tesla's massive "recall" that's just a software update to make it bag more when cruise control is on. That's going to be a major issue as consumer reports measures, but a nothing as an owner.

I'd figure you could have one person filter the deck overnight writing 1-2 a quick paragraph ea.

Then you'd have 4 people with 2 days to review a game that's not complete dreck.

I'm not sure a staff of 5 is supportable for articles that will get mostly no views, but I concur 5 people could do it.

But it probably wouldn't get much views, a daily article of "new games from yesterday that lists 2 that will get more full preliminary reviews and 48 that are garbage.

Then on Monday you can release the "maybe worth playing from last week".

It may require an extra person to go through the 48 games though.

And definitely an extra person to give the longer games real playtime.

Yeah, I think the better point to be made is that simple software has a place, and if the target is simple software one can treat it as finished.

The limitations of old spreadsheet software make it very likely one will need the features that weren't added yet.

There's definitely a market for word processors that just process words, but that doesn't necessarily mean the new features are useless (though I do think the word processor is a good example of software that's grown too much and I wish MS kept working on publisher, since Word will always be terrible for layout).
