You really need to ask??? Jeez ...

The User Is Not Broken

When a visitor leaves our Web site in frustration, or a browser exits the building empty-handed, itâ(TM)s not his or her fault. Itâ(TM)s because our systems are in some way broken.

Because for many years now we keep saying that the web is broken, but nothing changes. And 99% of the population just follows blindly and do as they're told by google, facebook, et al.

That's why!!!

Companies do not reply to emails anymore. Fuckin' nag-shit by google, cloudflare, et al. I have encountered the exact same problems that the Anonymous poster describes.

Until these 99% of the population actually get a clue about what's going on with regard to privacy etc, nothing will change.

In a distant past the mantra used to be: The Customer is King.

Nowadays one is not a customer anymore, but a mindless Do-As-You're-Told consumer.

Following are some videos of people who think similar:

I will not take part in all this bullshit. I think for myself. Yes - I make mistakes, but these are my own mistakes and I learn from them.

The list is looong ...

You proud of the shit you're doing?

I know it's a strange concept, and in this modern era things are continually modified, or even thrown out just when they're getting good in order to start again (Gnome 2), but in the old days one might actually Finish a program. I suggest that perhaps they don't need updating because they're Complete.

A child born today will grow up with no conception of privacy at all. They'll never know what it means to have a private moment to themselves, an unrecorded, unanalyzed thought. And that's a problem because privacy matters. Privacy is what allows us to determine who we are, and who we want to be.

Time for me to grab another beer.

The world of computing is broken beyond repair. The world of computing has become a complete dumpster fire.

And - when people who still use these products (samsung "apps" on a pc, etc.) read these kind of articles, why don't they get their heads out of their asses and take action - as in - drop these things like a hot potato.

The number of people who still remember a world of computing before google et al (aka. Advertising Bullshit, Javascript cesspool, etc.) keeps shrinking. Sadly.

What do I do when I end up <someplace> that does not work without javascript and other bullshit. I simply say: Fuck Em!! And I block that <someplace> in my local caching name server:

bash $ host www.forbes.com
www.forbes.com has address 192.168.1.10

Less people is the only thing that will save this planet.

Another problem is that way too many people believe that the "markets & economy" can grow indefinitely. Wrong!!!

The current direction of this planet is un-sustainable.

Which politician / government has the courage to actually say out loud that current population growth is un-sustainable and do something about it???

Some of the proposals/ideas being put forward here already exist ... It's called XMPP.

But they (google, facebook, microsoft, apple, et al.) don't want you to talk to other people outside their walled gardens. Which is why they killed off XMPP.

And people inside these walled gardens didn't even notice, that people they used to be able to talk to, just suddenly disappeared.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

Decentralization and addressing

The XMPP network uses a clientâ"server architecture; clients do not talk directly to one another. The model is decentralized - anyone can run a server. By design, there is no central authoritative server as there is with services such as AOL Instant Messenger or Windows Live Messenger. Some confusion often arises on this point as there is a public XMPP server being run at jabber.org, to which a large number of users subscribe. However, anyone may run their own XMPP server on their own domain.

And I am on the Outside looking at you people inside these walled gardens with Schadenfreude.
