Journal Journal: Oh. My. Gosh. 7

I have been warned about certain sites that end with ".cx", and how they could (or would) scar me for life. I've been a good girl, and I've avoided them like the plague if I could.

Imagine my horror when I came across TubGirl... (I'll leave it to the insanely curious to work out the website address. Hint: It isn't hard to do.)

There should be a warning about things like that: "Caution: Do not follow this link right after lunch."

Ewwww.... EWWWW!!!

Journal Journal: Constrained writing exercise 5

I honestly didn't think I could do it, but here it is. Let me know what you think:

The FBI Agent was obviously bored with this investigation. "Let's take this from the beginning." "Okay," Brenda sighed. "The spacecraft went wast towards those hills, hugging the ground like a parasite," she said. Again. "Then some guy came up and claimed to be a refugee from another planet. Said he was just dumped here." She didn't believe it herself, but that's what happened, just before he robbed her and ran.

Agent Jones thought that it was going to be a waste of his time. It looked like a simple robbery, a matter for the local police, but the story of the U.F.O. meant that it was his job. He looked at his map. The only things to the east were an extinct volcano and an old boiler factory. The place has been deserted for years, though. He went to check it out.

For a moment after he parked his car, Agent Jones thought he heard the distinct hum of a generator. "Odd," he thought, "Pretty noisy for an abandoned factory." He walked around, but he didn't find anything interesting. He returned to his car to find that his car's ignition had jammed. It was then that he noticed the photograph on the front page of the paper on the seat next to him. The story that accompanied it spoke of a bank robbery some thirty years before. The Boxer Gang had managed one of the most famous bank heists in the tri-state area, and it was still unsolved. The sign behind the Boxer Gang was the same sign that stood before him now, worn and weathered.

"This case has more layers than an onion!" he said. "But I think we're finally on to something."

Journal Journal: Happy New Year! 1

I had a wonderful, restful New Year.

Some might consider it "boring", but I needed the rest. I even got to sleep in the next morning!

I wish all of you a Happy New Year.

I don't usually make New Year's resolutions, but this year I want to go SHOPPING! I am going to try to lose a few pounds first, because some of the things I would like to get wouldn't fit me well just yet. :(

Journal Journal: It is very quiet here. 1

This is creepy. Almost nobody is in the office today. My boss has already left for the day and encouraged me to do the same.

I haven't left yet because I thought I would let the traffic settle before I hit the highway. Of course around here, that doesn't mean a lot; there is always traffic. It never stops. Don't these people have something to do?

I'm looking forward to a nice, quiet weekend. I'll be spending New Year's Eve at home. New Year's Day will be equally quiet, but I have been invited to a friend's house in the afternoon for a gathering of friends. I will probably go.

Monday is a holiday, so there won't be much to do then, either. Quiet is nice. Chaos is distressing.

Journal Journal: Been busy! 3

I've been a busy girl. So busy, in fact, that I didn't realize until today that I got my first "friend"- Bethanie. (Thank you, Bethanie!)

Christmas was wonderful. There were children everywhere. They made out like bandits, from grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles. Everyone got along, for the first time in years. There always seems to be the little things that kick off an argument, but nothing like that this year!

The food was delicious, too. We had turkey, chourico stuffing, traditional stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, corn, green olives and black olives. There were all sorts of deserts, too. I didn't try everything, but I had enough of a few things that I will probably regret it for a while.

It was a beautiful weekend, although some snow would have been nice. Seeing green grass on Christmas Day in New England is almost depressing. I won't complain though, because last year we got enough snow to last me a while. As the saying goes, "Be careful what you ask for... You just might get it."

Journal Journal: Networking

RailGunner invited me to look through Journal entries of people on his "friends" list. I've been reading through many and looking at different people. It's absolutely amazing, how there are so many different types of people that consider each other "friends".

If there are cliques here, I don't see a pattern. That's wonderful- I don't have any use for cliques.

Journal Journal: My first journal 2

This is my first journal entry on Slashdot. I hope it won't be my last.

I'm not new to technology; I can work my way around computers pretty well. It's just the whole "how well can you trust?" issue that has me worried. A girl has to be careful, after all.

We'll just see how this goes.
