AC is easier to transmit over long distances because of the ease of using transformers to step it up or down.
Actually, AC used to be more efficient. With modern technology, high voltage DC is usually more efficient, especially for longer distances.

If two consenting adults engage in a transaction that does not harm any third party, then that is none of your damn business. That is a reasonable design when you look at the tradeoffs. Titantic had 16 compartments, and could withstand up to four being breached at either the bow or stern, and even more could be breached amidship (where they would not cause much tilt). The problem is that five were breached, all at the bow. This was a "worst case" scenario. Even then, they may have been able to save the ship if they reacted quickly, by flooding the last compartment aft. That would have helped to balance the ship. But by the time the captain realized the full extent of the damage, the bow was sinking, the stern was rising, and it was too late.

It depends where you live. Here in San Jose, the weather reports for the last four months have been 100% accurate. Every day they predicted "warm and sunny", and they were right. We don't look at the weather report to decide if we need an umbrella. We look at the calendar.

Civilian GPS is not "low precision" at high altitude/speed, it stops working completely. If you are above 60,000 feet OR going faster than 999 knots, then it is supposed to completely shutdown.

Yes. There is little evidence that they lead to better health outcomes for patients, especially if you consider the alternatives. Heart disease is our number one killer, but the most effective remedy is not fancy technology that can build a 3D model of the arteries, but low dose aspirin at a cost of $4 per year. But there is no profit in that, so we get the fancy technology instead.
