I got a windows 11 box to play with for a Motu ultralite. It did not work on my pi-3 or my laptop running ubuntu. I wanted to use the motu with camilla for a dsp crossover. It has 10 out channels, so plenty. So I hook it up to the windows box, everything seems to be going well, the nifty motu interface works on the windows box. Then try to setup camilla. Uh-oh, windows won't configure the motu it to be one big 10 channel out widget. It wants to make a bunch of stereo outs. Not going to work. Arggh. Then out of pure coincidence, my pi-4 I'd ordered the prior year shows up. Figure what the heck. Take the pi-3 sd card I'd built with camilla, drop it on the pi-4 and voila, works. Somewhere I stumbled on an article about the usb changed slightly on pi-4, and so I guess that made the difference. Now I'm sure someone is going to tell me how I could have gotten windows to work with it, but isn't the point of windows is "it just works"? I was also absolutely appalled at the hoops I had to go thru just to get the windows box to boot the first time. Seriously, I need an account with u-probe up me arse to boot a box I paid for? WTF. I've not turned the windows box since I got the motu on the pi, and will likely reflash it to linux at the next boot.
