Journal Journal: -mm kernels 2
Warning for anyone who feels like trying linux 2.6.6-mm2 - he's forced 4kstacks on again, which breaks the nVidia drivers. I say this as I am posting from `links`. That is all. Thank you.

I stumbled upon this page while looking for a decent source to cite to disprove someone who was claiming that Kelvin is measured in degrees. While looking there I saw that there are some...odd degrees. Degrees Twaddle? MacMichael? EBC? Lovibond?
Am I the only one who feels like tracking down the first person to write a media player/IRC client integration script and whack them around a bit with a large trout? Does anyone really care what the other person is listening to? For those who are lucky enough to not have to endure these, have a small example:
* elDiablo listens to "Sasuke - Faint small" [02:58/21.64mb].
* ReflectingGod listens to "The Red Hot Chili Peppers - Road Trippin'" [03:25/3.17mb].
Did that information add anything to the channel? No! It just annoys people in the channel.

Thanks to the Stumbleupon Toolbar I stumbled across Spam Radio. Basically it does exactly what it says on the tin; it speaks spam with a beat
Very...odd
Yesterday I was randomly grepping for stuff in AAG's logs (yes, it was late, I was bored) when I stumbled across the following, er, "odd" user-agent string (IP has been changed):
532.627.523.74 - - [17/Mar/2004:02:54:13 +0100] "GET
Now why the hell are they identifying themselves as MSIE to every single site, bumping up MSIE usage statistics, if they're using something else?
Yay, apparently I loaded almost 500 404s yesterday. I'm pretty sure I didn't, but oh well, that's what proxies are for, right?
Looks like profile pages now have a list of everyone's submissions - see, for example, TRoLLaXoR's profile (just a random profile I thought of which would likely have odd submissions).
UPDATE: 2004-03-11T15:31+0000 Looks like this functionality's been changed so you can only see accepted stories now, except on your own profile. So it seems like a mistake (a la anonymous reviews on a certain site
First there was tinyurl.com, for those places you can't put long links. Now there's hugeurl.com for the hell of it! Apparently you shouldn't post these links anywhere yet (the algo is going to change), but who cares?
www.x.org - for those who don't want to view source, here it is, with linebreaks inserted:

I'm sure this service will be very useful.
Apparently my post rated 0 was overrated. I posted it before everybody else and it was also redundant (which is what got it the 0 score). Yay for slashdot mods!
(Yeah, I'm bored...)
Our cheat submission form has had people asking for cheats for a while. A month or three ago, I added a small bit of text in the rules section asking people to not request cheats. They still did. As anybody who's visited the link I gave above will probably see, I've now put this in a <h1>. I also added "We reserve the right to mock anybody who doesn't follow this request.". Knowing people, however, I bet we'll still get a tonne of cheat requests via the form. *sigh*
Also, is it just me or is http://slashdot.org giving a load of 500 errors? https:// doesn't seem to have that problem...
For some reason I don't seem to be able to see any comments. This includes replies to journals, and this happens whatever threshold I use. What's going on?
Update: OK, everything seems to be working again now, nothing to see here, move along...
Is it just me, or does Darl McBride look like Jack Dee? (Note: That link'll probably not work from 11:10-06:30 GMT)
Thanks Matt for giving me an early Christmas present - a subscription! Just testing out some of the features like just Friends of Friends, and Friends comments in journals...
I think I'll have to avoid all new technology stories, it gets depressing to see people saying their 26" TV is old and needs to be replaced with something newer, or even people saying "Buy an XBox for $[insert number greater than 100] a pop! That's what I earn in two seconds!" [yes, I'm exaggerating]
Ah well,
Looks like the DNS for a load of UK ISPs (including mine - Demon) is fscked. I know that NTL and Blueyonder are also affected. No idea why it's happening, but it's really annoying... and I can't log into MSN. ICQ/AIM/Yahoo!/Jabber, fine, but not MSN.
I wonder how big my
Update: Just noticed a few USENET threads on it...
The system was down for backups from 5am to 10am last Saturday.
