Agreed! I refuse to use anything past Win7. I also have a Linux machine, plus a laptop that boots into a live-CD Linux distro. Local storage, cloud storage(s), and anything important backed up into hard drives I then unplug. Judicious choice of what to use depending on purpose, security bolstered by involving smartphones...and an old dumbphone as well. Can I be hacked? Probably, but the effort and complexity involved makes it non-worthwhile.
Incidentally, it's not KAMHLOS (camel), it's KAMILLOS (thick rope, e.g. for docking a ship). They sound similar, a plausible mistake in transcription when someone reads aloud and scribes write what they hear. Somehow a simple hyperbole turned into surrealism involving the perplexed animal, and got perpetuated through the ages. [Ah, Slashdot doesn't accept Greek letters, I rewrote the two words in Greeklish]
...in enhancing Russia's isolation and fast-approaching economic hardship, this one taken by Russia itself. But ex-KGB mob bosses have their pride, you know.
One reason FB has lost me: they degraded the web / browser interface until it became like their simplistic mobile app. I used to login a couple of times a week; now it's like, once every three months. Too bad, Mark. Signed, dissatisfied customer.
Usual text-processing is not sufficient. Suppose someone has Epstein-Barr, and his name is Barr. Globally blanking out his name results in "Epstein-BLANK"... pretty much revealing his name! Just one of many difficulties.
Not just Amazon; I wouldn't risk content on any platform: If I post something that I value and would mind losing, I always keep a local copy. If it disappears, I can revive it elsewhere. E.g. Pinterest arbitrarily took down boards of mine; I no longer use Pinterest. Google+ is gone, tumblr I refuse to use...but I've lost nothing, I've moved my content to other sites. (And I still keep the local copies!)
