Bloomberg reports that several companies like Charter, DirecTV and Time Warner are thinking about coming up with their own schemes to avoid costly retransmission fees using streams gathered off public airwaves. Time Warner in particular is interested in acquiring Aereo pending a Supreme Court decision. “If found to be legal, the Aereo concept is very interesting, especially as it relates to retransmission consent fees,” Maureen Huff, a spokeswoman for New York-based Time Warner Cable, said on Friday.
