These are essentially meant to be disposable. Toxic materials put into landfills. Some "green" companies will ship them to China instead so that they're put into Chinese landfills. But do not kid yourself, these companies fully expect you to throw this away in a year and buy a new one. If some consumers complain about how difficult it is to change a battery you see vastly more consumers in rapturous adoration of the tiny design.

I wonder how this stuff sells in Europe where they have laws about tracking and recycling all the parts?

No, I am not stealing. The web sites are provided free and I'm just viewing some of the content they provide. Maybe I'm not viewing it the way they would like me to view it, but that is not the same as stealing and it is not immoral or unethical. This is little different from my throwing away my junk mail unopened.

Do not blame the viewers of the web sites for this. Blame the the advertisers who came up with abusive ads and the companies that continue to buy the abusive ads. If the companies would behave like responsible poeple then we wouldn't be forced to engage in self defense.

And don't forget that there are also laws in many countries that forbid you from bypassing software controls that are intended to prevent you from exercising your legal rights. Catch-22: you're legally allowed to use the re-use the product on your new computer, but are not legally allowed to make the changes to the software to enable this.

Maybe depends on where you're from. In California it doesn't fly, but you're still expected to not have just a tee shirt and jeans. However on east coast it is still expected most places. Doesn't need to be a great suit though.

The whole point really is that it needs to look like you care about getting the job. If they're looking at many candidates they're probably going to pass on the person who acts as if the interview is a waste of time, and they're definitely going to pass on the person who thinks he is so awesome that conventions can be thrown out.

I don't wear a suit, I don't wear a tie. I haven't worn a suit to the last few interviews. I am not a pro-suit person. I am a slacker. I will wear a suit to a wedding or funeral of course. However I have great difficulty understanding the mind set that wearing a suit would be throwing away dignity. Is this some sort of British style worry that you will be a class traitor if you put on a suit? What's the big deal? No one will laugh at you, no one will think less of you (no one that matters anyway), no one will mistake you for a tool.
