silent pc is not hard these days. a very old i5 that I built about 8 years ago still does great with 1080p content. I dont care beyond that.

tdp of 65w and less means you can run heatpipes in your pc and with onboard gfx (good enough for video) you have a silent pc.

install all the right ad blockers for YT and you get free 'tv' and generally full control. yes, install linux. no need for win (have not used win since win7 days).

I can also ssh and vnc into my other systems.

zero reason to use the sticks unless you are hellbent on DRM sources.

the younger kids (college age) feel the need to rebel. that's universal.

there's a YT talk by neil degrasse tyson where he addresses the fact that of the scientific elite (top of the top), its still close to 10% 'belivers' rate. to him, the story is that its not zero and should be.

neil is a true hero. I watch every one of his lectures. he kind of is the continuation of carl sagan. both athiests and not ashamed. they let new generations be ok with rejecting religion.

afterall, they fought VERY hard to stop the vaccination program, the free programs, the help, the aid, the assistance. they refused all of that and pushed misinformation, even to their own detriment.

the US government would most likely have continued the fully free vax program and all the related stuff, since, well, they are not really killers of their own. the R's "eat their young" (trump's own words, go search it). while funny, its kind of true; they sacrificed their own people just to 'own the libs'.

the free programs and the cost-effective programs are GONE because of just one political group in the US. and dont you 'both sides' me about anything, here; this was clear and not at all a fuzzy line.

they fought to stop public trans from requiring masks, whatever it takes to own the libs, they did.

so, this is where we are. no more free vax's (for the mass public) and only those with jobs and good insurance can get the expensive covid drugs and vax, now.

I work in this field. last job I had, I wrote test code to validate that things work on e-cars.

the conditionals are huge. driver has to be present, car has to be stopped, doors have to be closed, etc etc. we write pytest stuff to check every possible combo that safety-guys tell us to (a whole different group does the safety engineering).

the things that would go wrong are true failures of hw, unlikely its software on its own. software has been tested from hell and back.

but they dont always test every possible hw failure and how that can have a domino effect on the rest.

but yes, the logic checks this and that and imobilzer wont let the car start (and so on) if all the conditions are not met. that's why there are so many sensors and network wires in those cars.
