This must be a US problem.

Here in the Netherlands the delivery driver rings the door bell (of course), and if no-one shows up after 30-60 seconds or so, they will ring neighbour's doorbells until they find someone at home.

You then get a note with the house number where the package was delivered.

If this all fails, the package goes back to the depot and a new delivery time is scheduled.

ChatGPT wrote flawless code, and could even produce the version with "LDIR".
