Comment everyone is already a programmer (Score 1) 170

nothing stopped anyone from learning to program. some of the best ones are totally self taught, also some of the even better ones have heaps of education. programming has always been a finicky specialty. i always wondered why we with open arms accept these non educated expert programmers, mostly I've struggled with the smart ass style of programming - although, given a few years of experience things will get better. I've also met terrible terrible well educated programmers who just solve problems where no problems can be found.

with AI maybe even other professions can start accepting uneducated professionals into their ranks, looking forward to my first discounted uneducated doctor appointment, or maybe I can (with AI) self diagnose.

GOOD TIMES.

Even though I have some crypto currency I am agreeing with WB. Possession of tangible assets is important. Money has no value unless there is an authority that is willing to accept it. We saw that during the pandemic, no matter how much money we threw at someone they were unwilling to trade some vital products for money because they needed it themselves.

When push comes to shove, you cannot eat money. Crypto is even worse, it requires a functioning IT infrastructure to be able to perform transactions.

I use AppleTV every day. The menu system is snappy, responsive, and extremely intuitive. I can access all my content, and stream from plex. Recently I hooked up a PS4 controller and started playing some games.

We have three AppleTVs and I advocate it for all friends and family. Even a friend who is die-hard against all Apple devices found a place in his heart to buy and use the AppleTV.

In my opinion, it is highly underestimated. If you decide to live in Apple's walled garden, it integrates very well across devices.

It makes it very easy for me to manage content.

There is plenty of material on the site already!

The website should lower the threshold significantly if there is someone who complains of a specific piece of uploaded material from a non-verified/authorized producer, especially so if the complaint comes from the actual person or their guardian. The website needs to act responsibly, professionally and properly - in order to be good representative of the ones who want to be on the site.

I never understood why we try to add this kind of functionality, I guess it is a selling point to parents who don't have a clue.

I am heavily locked in the walled garden of the Apple ecosystem, and I enjoy it. I never enabled any blocking or restricting functionality because I believe that it is much more difficult to enforce the rules than it is to sit down with children and talk to them about how to use their phone/tablet/computer. It is much better to learn them about the dangers of use, and potential harmful sites on the internet and to cope with that- either through talking to an adult or a friend or ignoring it altogether. Learning to ignore comments, flamebait is hard.

Also, I don't punish them by taking away their device or restrict their access in any way. My reward has been, so far, that they communicate with me, and tell me about bad things that have happened to them, and that they are able to identify trolls. There still many more things for them to learn! I believe they must learn this through experience.

Parents need to get involved. It is sad that we believe that blocking/restricting is something that works. It only creates irritation with parents when they find out that it doesn't work as advertised.
