They can pay them whatever TF they want. Company I used to work for would fill out ridiculous requirements for a job that only the Indian grad student when he graduated would have. Didn't matter that the "requirements" were not really requirements. They were just trying to out fox the law when the law says you have to post a job so that a US citizen can apply. They could say, no one met the "requirements" so we have to hire this person H-1B (and we can pay them less--what a bargain).

Well, Server 2012R2 isn't EOL yet. Windows 10 is newer so that means Server 2012R2 probably wouldn't get the latest updates. Maybe you don't want a browser on a server...but it's been known to happen. Chrome would be better than whatever IE version is natively installed. Probably the Chrome update engine is going to detect Server 2012R2 as Windows 8.1.

Comment They're right about package management (Score 1) 185

I suppose they are correct in the complaints about C++ and package management. In some of the other big languges, package management is more a function of the environments. Sure, Java and C# are a little easier, but you still rely on Maven or nuget which are not part of the language. Microsoft has managed to integrate nuget in their C++ tools as well as vcpkg. I have no idea if Swift, Go, Rust, etc.... have it as part of the language. I think C++ has some upcoming releases with some sort of package management.

Comment Bad phrase "Hiding Windows 11 Teams" (Score 2) 94

I feel like that article was written by a 6th grader with no editorial oversight.

Isn't the problem that Teams IS HIDDEN? It's running in the background on start by default and it is hidden to the users. It's using up resources on the user's computer and the user doesn't even know it unless they go and look at, get this, "Show Hidden Icons" (yes HIDDEN) to see that Teams is actually running and hidden in the background.

The user does not want to hide this. It's already hidden!!! What they want to do is terminate the program and stop it from starting up on logon! The last thing they want to do is hide it.

Comment Because some websites are designed for Chrome (Score 1) 408

Chrome is sort of in the situation IE was a LONG LONG TIME AGO IN A GALAXY FAR AWAY...

All websites are tested to be Chrome compatible because it is basically the standard now. I've tried to use some websites where 1) they recommend using Chrome or 2) they work with Chrome but not Firefox. Sometimes you wonder why you should f*ck around with two browsers ... or three or four.

When I come across one of those sites, I ask myself why am I using Firefox instead of Chrome.

Yes, I have an account and use it daily. I voted for Biden.

But, I find it ridiculous the way they want to censor Trump. There is so much bullshit on Twitter, I don't agree with the way they handle orange bozo. Let him say what he wants, let others say what they want. Too many babies with too much power in big tech. Oh, you said something we don't like...time to ban you. I guess I am just an old fucker that rode in the front seat of my parents car going down the freeway while my dad smoked Winstons. I wish the rest of you would just grow the fuck up.

Comment Is it your responsibility? (Score 1) 333

Is it your your responsibility to do management's job for them? It's their job to have enough people to the job and to cover for you when you go on vacation or get ill. It's their job to read the writing on the wall and to consider that at your age you might want to retire or God forbid, you could get a chronic illness. I wouldn't give any more than a 3 month notice.
