Often all those switches on the dash switches are CAN controlled. Things like the fuel shutoff relay, windows, cruise control, jake brake, diff lock, air ride can be controlled by CAN. Many trucks allow you to dump the air from the rear air bladders - doing that repetitively will probably eventually force the brakes to be applied due to lack of air supply. Engine operating parameters like RPM/vmax can usually be set by CAN and sometimes software updates to control modules⦠at which point you might even be able to do things like overboost or turn exhaust regen on until fire.

Some Canadians are getting it.
Ban legal guns to reduce gang violence (despite majority of gun violence already committed with illegal firearms)
Ban flipper zero to reduce car thefts after man tracked his stolen car to a port and police refused to do anything (despite flipper zero etc. not being the problem, catch and release, open immigration, economic pressure caused by high taxes etc.)
Ban scary truckers from assembly and invoke the emergency act to clear them (despite not actually addressing the peaceful and instead calling them a fringe minority)
Tax everything, including the taxes, to help the climate (despite Canada being inconsequential to the global climate)
Ban disposable plastic bags so âoedisposableâ bags become disposed reusable bags and we purchase trash bags instead of recycling grocery bags.
If one feels we are making progress as a society on a certain issue, we should check our biases and try to determine if we are âoeenlightenedâ or in the âoepeak of enthusiasmâ since both seem similar. The nuance can be a bugger.

I had my dumb garage doors hooked up to my DSC alarm panel years ago. The PGM outputs would open them, the door contacts would tell the open/closed status. There was a motion sensor in the garage and if the garage was left open with no movement, it would email then eventually close automatically. They pgm outputs could be controlled by a keychain fob. The garage was fully detached from the house. If someone wanted into my garage they could easily hack it or use a coat hanger to pull the release or back the stolen vehicle into the garage door like a normal thief.

Comment The ink cartridges that came with the printer (Score 2) 253

And if you replace your cartridges with purchased ones, you can print.

According to the class action lawsuit you can't purchase cartridges outside of the program and the printer print.

The most interesting thing from the original article is that it implies the user claimed to still be on his first set of cartridges...

"Here was a piece of technology that I had paid more than $200 for, stocked with full ink cartridges. My printer, gently used, was sitting on my desk in perfect working order but rendered useless"

IN OTHER WORDS: The cartridges he paid for with the printer were bricked because he signed a "contract" and without actually delivering anything, they remotely bricked his original cartridges for not paying his "don't run out of ink" insurance.

This is sort of like signing up for a furnace repair contract on a furnace you own; and then if you don't renew a van comes and shoves ball-bearings in the exhaust pipe... except the service van in this case doesn't cost the service company anything and it's done instantly by some automated coward over the internet.

If HP can do this, why can't software authors just do the same and bundle third party software with a subscription that doesn't take away your encryption keys belonging to all your recently encrypted files when you don't renew?! Onedrive?

In your mind, is everyone good or bad?
If a person sees bad happen, does that make them bad?
Do you actually have kids such that you have seen the only way really to teach them about bad behaviour is to call it out to them? They naturally bully their peers and people that aren't like them! Do you want to live in a world where rather than having safe opportunities to call out bad ideas have all been cancelled?

Dr. Seuss was a racist propagandist responsible for the internment of many Canadians and Americans of Asian decent.
He gave many kids the love of reading such that they could later read about how he was racist and wrong.
