Most Russians. Just because you can point to a Russian who is "not like that" does not invalidate my claim. Their culture and value system is radically different from ours, and it would be wrong of us to assume that they just need to be "educated" or "freed". They're well aware of what's on the other side of the fence. They like what they have, or they would have changed it by now. Specifically, they like their brutal "dog eat dog" culture, because most are eager to be the one on top. They don't hate the game, they just hate losing.

Submission + - Chase bank to let advertisers target customers based on spending habits (qz.com)

smooth wombat writes: Chase bank announced a new program which will allow advertisers to target Chase customers based on the customer's purchases. According to the press release, the new program is called Chase Media Solutions and "serves as a key conduit for brands, connecting them with consumers’ personal passions and interests. In turn, Chase customers benefit from personalized offers and the ability to earn cash back with brands they love or are discovering for the first time."

The bank is hoping to combine insights from its large customer base and 6 million small business customers as part of its efforts to build out its own two-sided commerce platform and bring in benefits to both business clients and banking customers. Chase Media Solutions follows from the integration of card-linked marketing platform Figg, which JPMorgan Chase & Co. acquired in 2022, the bank said.

Retail media networks like Chase Media Solutions are a form of advertising platform that gives retailers the ability to sell off ad space on their digital channels to outside brands. These platforms were given a major boost by the surge in online shopping during the pandemic.

Management consulting firm Bain & Company estimates that retail media is currently a $61 billion industry — double what it was in 2021. And it’s expected to continue growing at an annual rate of 10% through 2026, making it an increasingly competitive area.

I remember the day AOL opened the floodgates. I wouldn't call it the dark ages, it was a mixed bag, but in the end, giving the public access to the Internet cannot be considered worse than what was before.

There was another big transition... the day the USA passed laws allowing the Internet to be used by corporations. Before it was gov't, education, and military only. That was an even bigger deal, but I wouldn't call either the time before or after the dark ages.

Up until recently, things just got better and better with time. Now not so much. Big Internet companies are controlling public narrative and swinging elections in their favour by controlling who says what and how. The state has unprecedented spying power, and in many previously free countries (such as the UK) people are getting knocks on the door and are being sent to prison for saying the wrong political opinions online. Nothing like this has ever happened before, and it's far worse than what has come before. Now is the dark age of the Internet.

It seems the kinds of feminists that only pay lip service to equality are the ones in charge. We never hear them fight for "equality" when it's unpleasant or dangerous. 95% of workplace fatalities are male, but you see today's feminists protesting in the streets for a few percentage points different in gross pay, despite women working less hours by choice. Who's going to narrow the death gap?

The real academic crime is the baseless assumption that 50/50 sex representation in STEM is fairness or some form of equality. Men and women can have radically different tastes and preferences, and this heavy handed forcing of "diversity" is an affront to the human right of freedom of choice.
