Our professor in space technology taught us that almost the entire theory of space travel comes from Russia. They even calculated that you could not reach orbit with a one-stage rocket before 1900 (with the then known fuels). The Vandenkerckhove function, used in rocket engine calculations, comes from Belgium. The Germans solved the last technical problems (the instability at launch for example, when the speed of the rocket is still too low for outside rudders to have effect).

I was talking about industrial PCs. They were often older-spec, very expensive, rugged computers to be used as controllers in machines. So even if these are industrial PCs, they were already old-fashioned when they were implemented.

I think you will find that upgrading and modernizing the systems in aircraft is quite normal. Why should it be different in a light rail or CNC machine?

Would it not be easier at some point to replace the whole computer? While the "outer" hardware is made last, I don't know if the industrial PC already existed in the 5" floppy era.

Those are not the cookies you have to ask permission for. In fact, you don't have to get permission for cookies at all. The word "cookie" is not even in the GDPR. You have to get permission for the use of personal data, and only if you do not need it for the task of the site itself.

For example, if you run a web shop, you do not need to get permission to use the delivery address for delivery of the ordered goods. However, if you want to send ads to delivery addresses, then you do need consent.

The cookiewalls are just malicious compliance. They are not meant to abide the law, but to piss people off so much that they start to hate the law.
