What font color is best for eyes?

Regular black on white seems best for me. Clear, easy to read, and if the whole screen doesn't have too many light colours, easy on the eyes :)

In the printing business, we've known for years that black type on yellow has the highest contrast, thus is easiest to see--that's why road hazard signs are in those colors.
Since computer monitors are shining light in your face rather than reflecting it, I wouldn't go all the way to pure yellow. Try a light shade of yellow or beige and see how that works.
What's even more important is the typeface you use, and the size. Nine or ten point works well on paper, but not on screen. Go for twelve point (six lin

I haven't found anything pertaining to this subject, but I've been curious myself. I find dark backgrounds tend to work better for me. I like purple on black, personally. The less light the better, it reduces the headaches.
