    Be Wary of ClubExpress

    Summary: I wouldn't recommend ClubExpress to anyone because of the poor coding techniques used and lack of response from the development team with regards to custom code requests.

    Positive: Very configurable, many options exist for the calendar of events. Membership module is powerful and has tightened our organizations' membership count. Offers more capabilities than our org currently use which is a good thing for our growing organization. ClubExpress developed a custom Volunteer Time Search Box which has met our expectations, it's powerful and fast.

    Negative: Emailing capabilities not well thought out but we understand how tough it is to design an emailing tool. Emails to full membership get logged in email database but Interest Group and Committee emails aren't. We had bad experiences with custom coding, for example a dropdown menu defined on one screen is defined as a text box on another screen. Couldn't get ClubExpress to provide detailed analysis of customer proposals nor would ClubExpress explain general statements their developers made about those proposals. ClubExpress programmers often would make poor coding decisions. For instance, in our custom time logging app, ClubExpress chose to display time detail entries in oldest to newest order instead of newest to oldest, the most illogical and unusable choice possible, a sign of inexperience. Basic tricks to compress as much data as possible on one line (two (or more) line headers, truncation) weren't used, leaving important info undisplayed. As a customer we have had to pay ClubExpress to fix these bugs. Documentation of ClubExpress system is around 1,000 pages, virtually unusable for non-techies.

    Summary: ClubExpress membership and registration services is very professional and a really serene product. But, if you are looking for strong reporting or the capability to filter reporting, it is either unavailable or a very difficult task. The emailing option is also likely limited in chosen recipients.

    Positive: We appreciate the unique feature of being able to distinguish payment by membership type. It has helped us saved a lot of time by eliminating an additional step in the registration of members.

    Negative: We just don't like the reporting abilities. We find it extremely hard to filter the data we need in the different reporting options.

    Summary: We are able to keep track of members and have regular e-mail correspondence. Would like posts to be integrated with Twitter and Facebook. Post it on our ClubExpress site involving the API.

    Positive: ClubExpress does all the heavy lifting for our organization - brilliant communications tools, requires zero programming. It's an amazing tool to manage and connect with the members and a simple way to register.

    Negative: I would suggest single sign on ability for members with Facebook or Google - people just tend to forget their passwords.

    Summary: ClubExpress allows us to display and share content through posts and calendar events resulting in more user engagement. Therefore, our return on investment has been positive since we last purchased this software.

    Positive: We appreciate that no codes are required to operate ClubExpress. We also like calendar feature for posting events and sending emails on a daily basis.

    Negative: We would like better editing functionality on the calendar postings. We like to make the postings as detailed as possible and the editing is tough. We end up posting many times.

    A very powerful tool for any member based organization is ClubExpress

    Summary: ClubExpress can be called an all-in-one software because we are able to manage membership in our group, schedule meetings, collect property rental dues, customize cash collection and more!

    Positive: What I best like about ClubExpress is that it is very flexible to the needs of our organization, especially with customer support. Any time we have ever needed anything for our team and can't figure out how to process it on ClubExpress, we just contact their support and our questions are answered instantly.

    Negative: At times the interface is quite difficult to use and could be made simpler. ClubExpress is probably way more powerful than is necessary for our organization but I still think that they could improve the user interface.

    Summary: ClubExpress has the ability to require payment along with registration which helped my organization manage and reduce our accounts receivable. Also, their support team is amazing! I mean really amazing.

    Positive: The best thing about ClubExpress is the ability to keep a calendar of events that permits registration and payment of training events. You can organize the events that have options and these option can have a price tag or not.

    Negative: Creating events takes a lot of getting used to. The functionality is there, but it's not very intuitive.

    Summary: We chose ClubExpress because it has central document storage, forum based email distribution, event calendar, advertising to non-members and excellent marketing.

    Positive: I like the simplicity of ClubExpress, as well as the flexibility. You can make your club page as basic, or fancy as you want. ClubExpress customer service provides expert opinion on technical matters, too.

    Negative: A big part of why we went with ClubExpress was to have an email distribution list for the members. The problem is, that it is not really like that. It is actually a forum that members are essentially subscribed to. It works, but it is not exactly what I wanted.

    Summary: Even though some of the new features aren't specifically relevant to our business, we appreciate all the effort that is being done to improve and expand the site. We like the availability of specialized tech support and the instructional tutorials.

    Positive: We definitely choose usability above other features. Since our club is totally administered by volunteers, it is very helpful that members may manage their own memberships online and enroll in or renew their own subscriptions.

    Negative: We've been running behind schedule in setting up for a variety of reasons, but based on what we've learned and achieved so far, we've found that edit windows present some of the biggest challenges because of inconsistent tools and formats.

    Sufficiently good service

    Summary: After much deliberation, we have decided to switch to ClubExpress, and we are confident that they will be able to provide our nonprofit with the resources it needs to thrive. Currently, the membership fee is being collected later than expected. Because of the built-in features of our website, all of our members, or just a select few, can have access to our secure online document archive. ClubExpress's included phone and email support is readily accessible to all subscribers.

    Positive: Because of how important it is to our business, we can't do without this program. Without it, we'd have to hire full-time staff to do the work that volunteers are already doing. That would significantly increase the already modest fee we charge our elderly members for these services. For the past ten years, I've managed to run my business entirely online, without ever setting foot in an office. Meaning that coordinators can do their jobs without leaving their homes, this (directory, calendar, storefront, photo albums, custom video page). Helpful webinars and online courses are much appreciated. We are still finalizing our setup and are therefore not yet fully functional, but we are confident that our initial assumptions will prove correct.

    Non-Webmaster Friendly system

    Summary: Without a webmaster, we couldn't have launched a new website for our club, but the Success Team made it happen. Our Event Coordinators are able to handle the web pages for which they are accountable after seeing the ClubExpress films and contacting the 800 number provided.

    Positive: As our webmaster suffered a stroke, we made the switch to Club Express. By working with them, we were able to switch from our previous platform to the Club Express system. After considering a number of other providers, our board ultimately settled on Club Express because of how well it matches our requirements.

    Negative: The preformatted reports have varying degrees of usability. PDF reports are of high quality. However, the information available in the PDF reports is not replicated in any of the Excel reports.

    ClubExpress is easy to use

    Summary: We are a volunteer organization of retired employees with a mission to protect our pension. I am the treasurer of the organization. We had been using ClubExpress’s membership system for several years but had not fully implemented the website capabilities. We took on that project this past year. Though it may have taken us a bit longer than average (seven months total), the overall experience of enhancing our existing website was very positive. The price of ClubExpress for both the membership services and the website enhancement is very reasonable. We were assigned one of ClubExpress’ engineers to guide our redesign work. Now that the website is redesigned we want to take on other projects such as fully implementing the Donation features of ClubExpress. What I especially appreciate about ClubExpress is how they are always improving the product with new features.

    Positive: I especially like the robust features of ClubExpress, the security and privacy features of the membership system, the ease of creating web pages, and the reasonable cost of ClubExpress. The Help Desk availability is excellent. I truly feel like ClubExpress is our organization’s collaborator and partner.

    Negative: Though we very much appreciate being assigned an engineer to help us with the website redesign, the way that collaboration was supposed to work was not made crystal clear to us at the outset. We hit a bump or two along the way. We were, however, able to work things out by talking to the sales team member who helped set reasonable expectations, and by talking directly to the engineer.

    Summary: We have moved to ClubExpress to allow for online payment of dues. We are also managing our membership details and calendar of events through ClubExpress.

    Positive: Love the ability for club members to pay dues online, sign up for events online, and place their own classifieds. I like that all aspects of our membership experience can be handled through ClubExpress.

    Negative: No automated waitlist for events. This is my biggest gripe. We should be able to have a waitlist for events and have those on the waitlist (in order) be placed automatically into the attending section as members delete their registrations. It should then email the new attending member. Classifieds module end user UI needs to be improved.

    Best program we have found, but with a challenging set of features.

    Summary: Using ClubExpress is still much easier than maintaining a custom webpage and payment service. We collect membership dues & info, create marketing stuff, write newsletters, and sales. The only real benefit is only needing to login to one application to access the info.

    Positive: ClubExpress has many features a club needs for a website/app. It's more than a generic web host. The integrated membership registrations are great. Lots of information (club info, photos, videos, and sales) can be captured all in one application.

    Negative: Changing and maintaining the website is not easy. Setting up the app didn't go well either. I still can't figure it out. Many of the page setup screens are very old school and not intuitive.
