    ClubExpress has brilliant club-centric hosted website.

    Summary: We chose ClubExpress because it has central document storage, forum based email distribution, event calendar, advertising to non-members and excellent marketing.

    Positive: I like the simplicity of ClubExpress, as well as the flexibility. You can make your club page as basic, or fancy as you want. ClubExpress customer service provides expert opinion on technical matters, too.

    Negative: A big part of why we went with ClubExpress was to have an email distribution list for the members. The problem is, that it is not really like that. It is actually a forum that members are essentially subscribed to. It works, but it is not exactly what I wanted.

    Useful Application in many cases.

    Summary: Even though some of the new features aren't specifically relevant to our business, we appreciate all the effort that is being done to improve and expand the site. We like the availability of specialized tech support and the instructional tutorials.

    Positive: We definitely choose usability above other features. Since our club is totally administered by volunteers, it is very helpful that members may manage their own memberships online and enroll in or renew their own subscriptions.

    Negative: We've been running behind schedule in setting up for a variety of reasons, but based on what we've learned and achieved so far, we've found that edit windows present some of the biggest challenges because of inconsistent tools and formats.

    Sufficiently good service

    Summary: After much deliberation, we have decided to switch to ClubExpress, and we are confident that they will be able to provide our nonprofit with the resources it needs to thrive. Currently, the membership fee is being collected later than expected. Because of the built-in features of our website, all of our members, or just a select few, can have access to our secure online document archive. ClubExpress's included phone and email support is readily accessible to all subscribers.

    Positive: Because of how important it is to our business, we can't do without this program. Without it, we'd have to hire full-time staff to do the work that volunteers are already doing. That would significantly increase the already modest fee we charge our elderly members for these services. For the past ten years, I've managed to run my business entirely online, without ever setting foot in an office. Meaning that coordinators can do their jobs without leaving their homes, this (directory, calendar, storefront, photo albums, custom video page). Helpful webinars and online courses are much appreciated. We are still finalizing our setup and are therefore not yet fully functional, but we are confident that our initial assumptions will prove correct.

    Negative: For various reasons, we've fallen behind schedule in setting up, but based on what we've learned and accomplished so far, we've discovered that edit windows present some of the greatest difficulties due to inconsistencies in the available tools and formats.

    Non-Webmaster Friendly system

    Summary: Without a webmaster, we couldn't have launched a new website for our club, but the Success Team made it happen. Our Event Coordinators are able to handle the web pages for which they are accountable after seeing the ClubExpress films and contacting the 800 number provided.

    Positive: As our webmaster suffered a stroke, we made the switch to Club Express. By working with them, we were able to switch from our previous platform to the Club Express system. After considering a number of other providers, our board ultimately settled on Club Express because of how well it matches our requirements.

    Negative: The preformatted reports have varying degrees of usability. PDF reports are of high quality. However, the information available in the PDF reports is not replicated in any of the Excel reports.

    Be Wary of ClubExpress

    Summary: I wouldn't recommend ClubExpress to anyone because of the poor coding techniques used and lack of response from the development team with regards to custom code requests.

    Positive: Very configurable, many options exist for the calendar of events. Membership module is powerful and has tightened our organizations' membership count. Offers more capabilities than our org currently use which is a good thing for our growing organization. ClubExpress developed a custom Volunteer Time Search Box which has met our expectations, it's powerful and fast.

    Negative: Emailing capabilities not well thought out but we understand how tough it is to design an emailing tool. Emails to full membership get logged in email database but Interest Group and Committee emails aren't. We had bad experiences with custom coding, for example a dropdown menu defined on one screen is defined as a text box on another screen. Couldn't get ClubExpress to provide detailed analysis of customer proposals nor would ClubExpress explain general statements their developers made about those proposals. ClubExpress programmers often would make poor coding decisions. For instance, in our custom time logging app, ClubExpress chose to display time detail entries in oldest to newest order instead of newest to oldest, the most illogical and unusable choice possible, a sign of inexperience. Basic tricks to compress as much data as possible on one line (two (or more) line headers, truncation) weren't used, leaving important info undisplayed. As a customer we have had to pay ClubExpress to fix these bugs. Documentation of ClubExpress system is around 1,000 pages, virtually unusable for non-techies.
