Description
The MacPorts Project is a community-driven open-source initiative aimed at creating a user-friendly platform for compiling, installing, and upgrading various types of open-source software—whether command-line, X11, or Aqua—on the macOS operating system. To facilitate this, we offer the MacPorts software package, which operates via the command line and is licensed under a 3-Clause BSD License, granting users seamless access to thousands of ports that streamline the process of managing open-source software on Mac computers. Our repository maintains a single software tree that aligns with the latest versions of every software title (port) we offer, avoiding the complications of categorizing them into “stable” and “unstable” versions, primarily focusing on compatibility with macOS Mojave v10.14 and later, including support for macOS Monterey v12 on both Intel and Apple Silicon hardware. With a vast array of ports available across multiple categories, the collection is continually expanding to meet the needs of users. Each update aims to enhance user experience while ensuring that the most current software options are readily accessible.
Description
Macsmith consolidates various command-line developer tools into a single, user-friendly macOS GUI designed for the seamless management of a local development environment. Users can effortlessly handle Homebrew packages and services, switch between different runtimes using mise and nvm, and run Docker via Colima. The application also allows for the inspection of Lima virtual machines and management of local databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB by starting or stopping their services. Additionally, it provides insights into which processes occupy network ports, facilitates SSH key management, enables editing of hosts files and shell aliases, and helps configure local HTTPS using Caddy and mkcert. Macsmith further enhances developer productivity with integrated DNS utilities, controls for ngrok and cloudflared tunnels, and views for AWS CLI profiles and rclone remotes, along with options for clearing developer caches. Tool state inspection is free, but a one-time Pro license is necessary for installing, updating, starting, stopping, or modifying supported tools. Compatible with both Intel and Apple silicon Macs, Macsmith requires macOS 14 or newer for optimal performance and functionality. Overall, this innovative application streamlines the development workflow, making it an essential tool for developers.
